From one of the new legends and mysteries grimoire cards Skolas' Fate
"The cell cracks open. Skolas, Wolf Kell, stumbles out and crashes to his knees.
He tries to leap at the creature before him, the shape in the fog, to show it why it should be afraid. But the weight of grief smashes his legs against the cell. The rage upon him beats him to the floor. He falls on all four hands, his mighty armor thundering against itself.
His House of Wolves is enslaved! His people have been played! And it was his hubris, his would-be cunning that did it! While the other Houses fought for their future on Earth, throwing themselves at the Great Machine, Skolas wasted his people in games of betrayal and ambition. Bitter pride brought a bitter end!
If Skolas were a Kell he would ask his Archon to dock him. Ether hisses in his mask and it tastes cold, so cold.
He looks up. At the tiny hooded shape before him. The cell's mist is clearing. He can see.
"I believe that I am here," the creature says. To Skolas' ears it has a strange voice, a strange accent. It speaks his language. "I have a clear purpose. I cannot explain it. Forgive me."
From beneath its hood, tiny fingers of shadow probe the air.
Skolas rises up to smash it, to show his strength, because the alternative to violence is waiting for violence to come from a universe that has neither respect nor compassion. But he checks himself. His ambitions have brought him here, to this cell in this strange place... only it's not so strange, is it? It's the hold of a Ketch. "The Queen," he says to the thing. "You work for the Queen."
"The Nine made me aware of my purpose," the creature says. "If am here, then it is because the Queen sent you to the Nine, and they wish you sent back." "
So why would the nine set him free? Thought they were on our side. I mean Xurs will is not his own it is quite clear they made him do it. But why? Perhaps they want the fallen houses united again to join us to fight the darkness rather than each other. We know from other new grimoire cards the Traveller found the fallen before us. Perhaps the nine think our two forces must come together to fight the darkness. Thoughts?

I wouldn't trust anybody in this universe. I mean... I got Eris giving me evil looking gear and armor and she wants eyes... I'm suppose to follow this Traveller guy that nobody knows anything about and a guy called the Speaker isn't speaking about it. I got some mysterious possibly Exo of the future who is equally cryptic. I got a creepy black market dealer called Xur peddling wares in the Tower of Light. Who let this guy in and just where is he getting trunk full of exotics as maybe we need to go to the source to equip humanity and awoken to take back the solar system. I get promised great rewards from the Queen herself and get the equivalent of glimmer. Um.... You know some of that etheric light could help me fight the darkness better. What am I suppose to do with these crystals? They explode if I throw it at em or something. This universe is crazy.

1 ReplySo the guardians could have another DLC
-
1 Reply"My will is not my own" Pretty much sums it up with that
-
1 ReplyWhy is it Xûr? Xûr is AN agent of the nine not THE agent. There are more than likely many xûr type agents
-
So bungie could get more money.
-
Cause everyone already hates him for selling garbage and being a dick
-
So I could fight him

The Nine are a viral language of pure meaning If they want war, war happens. They stoke the embers of war by releasing people like Skolas and they push guardians into war by sending Xûr to us with nothing but tools of war; weapons and armor. They originated from the cis-Jovian colonies (the places we're trying to reclaim) but now they rule beyond the Jovians (everything from Jupiter and outward). Perhaps they're playing us against the Fallen and Hive and Cabal to weaken everyone so they can better control the inner orbiting planets.

Edited by TwoToneTwentyone: 5/28/2015 1:56:36 AMStrange coins. Scholas had coins when Xur showed up and due to that shadow faced fiend having a deep love for coins, he brought along the key to Scholas' freedom.

4 RepliesXur is an agent to the Nine. That is the only reason that Xur was the one to release Skolas. As to why, it states in the Grimiore cards. The one you mentioned before and the Ghost Fragment for the Queen. "More of your brother's Crows have entered the Cauldrons of Rhea." The Witch directly before her spoke with a dry buzz. "The Nine do not approve." She stopped a moment to study the sealed face of a cell. The cloud of her breath mingled with the slow exhalation of cryonics. "Send them one of our prizes. Something to commemorate our mutual victory." "And which of your prisoners would you gift?" If she paused to think it was only for an instant. "Send them Skolas." "A lovely gesture." "Mm." She cocked her head as if listening for a frozen heartbeat. "And remind them this: the Crows are mine." If I am reading into the Grimiore correctly, this is a power struggle between Mara Sov and the Nine. The Cauldrons of Rhea may also be what will bring the Taken King into our solar system. Maybe I am just spit-balling, but so far Destiny has finally begun to feel like a full game. Just wish that Grimiore was available in game. Discussions would be deeper and I am sure that a lot more people would feel sympathy for the Fallen like I do now. Sympathy For The Devils? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Pretty sure it was because the nine arent big fans of the queen, or more specifically her brother. A couple other cards hint towards the brother being the leader of or KNOWING the leader of the house of kings. And thats bad news. On top of that the nine may know of the awokens origins. The lighthouse card hints that the awoken could potentially be connected to the vex (a part of them had been on mercury). These grimoire cards change so often though that i wouldnt be surprised if a few of these plots change around to fit expansions. Ps that skolas released card is my favorite of the new bunch. I love xurs character :)

Because rhythm is a dancer

To put it simply, The crows -awoken spec ops- spied on the cauldrons of Rhea
i think the cauldrons of rhea are the home of the nine (it's the ninth largest moon)
Nine disapprove The nine are given skolas from the queen The nine release skolas
this could be to spite the queen, to cause chaos, to occupy the guardians, it could be anything.
7 RepliesIt never said it was xur . It could of been someone else from the nine
-
2 RepliesSounds like business to me! There's money in war! To quote game of thrones "chaos is a ladder" There are people that clutch at power amongst the chaos
-
The nine thought skolas was ugly and wanted a different puppy
-
Cuz Skolas had some surplus Strange Coins kicking around the bottom of his purse and Xûr sells things cheap
-
Anyone else think that the speaker is a member of the nine, that's why he covers his face and he is the one pulling all the strings in order to survive the next round of the darkness?

3 RepliesI can see three things as a result of Skolas being freed: 1) brought the Reef and the Tower closer 2) weakened many of the Fallen houses so they pose less of a threat to the Tower 3) the Fallen are no longer with the Queen so they cannot betray her at a more critical time
-
Quite likely. If the theory that the Stranger is somehow connected to the Nine as well, remember her quotes. One about forces coming together, and ground being broken... Another about that one always has to choose a side. What if the Nine got sick of Mara wavering, and forced her hand to ally with the Vanguard? That, and look at what the rise of Skolas wrought. One of the best of the Queen's Guard has been brought back to active duty. The Disciples of Osiris have resurfaced. All but one of the Fallen Houses has been irrevocably crippled, and, with any luck, a fifth House can claim them, possibly bring them to the light. Overall, this one act, while it might seem treasonous, may have been a way of tipping just the right domino.

I believe that the queen and prince both desire ultimate rule over all. And they play both light and dark sides to get what they want. Lately I think the Queen leans towards the light(traveler) more for strength. And the brother is leaning towards the dark(the nine) I believe the Prince and The Nine schemed to get skolas free to shake up the the game board(it was the princes fault the queen had to please the Nine). This way they could get things done like: -pull the house of kings out of hiding (The prince admires whomever their Kell is) (prince might be their Kell for all I know) -The prince also meets up with Eris without the queen knowing about it. -guardians are able to meet with Osiris disciples so far away from the light (I theorize Osiris may be a member of the Nine) The Prince is planning something...

17 RepliesIf you're a fan of the Grimoire, there is a card during an interrogation of Skolas with the Queen, her brother, and Variks. Variks is trying to translate what Skolas is saying, but he just keeps on ranting about a "light eater." This mention disturbs the Queen and she sends two messenger Crows out--- one to the tower, and one to Mercury. The one in the tower was for Eris, who met up with the Queen in a separate Grimoire card where they specifically mention Oryx. The one to Mercury was clearly meant for Osiris. So.... given what has been set in motion, I'm more likely to believe that the Nine knew of Oryx's coming and this was their way of gathering the forces together.

Sales of exotic weapons were falling do they had to create a new enemy to increase sales again The Nine are just scummy arms dealers profiting from the war; they are probably selling the scorch cannons to the Fallen as well
-
2 RepliesFrom what I've read in the cards, the queen sent Skolas as a gift to the nine to appease them. The nine were mad at the queen for some reason and she sent Skolas to calm them down. From a few of the cards, it seems that the queen and the nine don't get along very well. My thoughts are that the nine are trying to dethrone her.

3 RepliesThe nine... 9/3=3 THE NINE ARE THE ILLUMINATI!!!
ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED
The Nine will appear in the Comet DLC, they are a type of Vex that live between the 'portals' Not at the departure gate or arrival gate, but in the 'timespace' between them... Theres more to come, so much more. (Year One)
