Trials Cheaters Exposed -- Bungie, Trials Lag Switching/Cheating is real + how to fix!

Now that the Trials of Osiris event is here, the cheating is back. I want to propose a fix to the lag in competetive online games. IMO, this is a bigger problem than cheesing bosses since the cheaters are affecting actual people.
Here is a simple solution that could easily be implemented:
1) baseline the connection of each player prior to match. not enough bandwidth, you cannot play Trials. 2) during match player falls under threshold, display warning of imminent kick due to connection. 2a) player quickly "fixes" issue and continues 2b) player continues to lag and gets kicked 3) game continues minus the lagger -- problem solved.
Maybe a high latency "lag" server can be dedicated for all who cannot meet the minimum requirements but still want to play online. These players can happily play amoungst themselves and see how their connection looks from the other side.

Please comment and like if excessive lag is an issue concerning you. You can also comment if you lag and want to justify why you shouldn't be kicked when you clearly ruin gaming for everyone else in your server.

I Say if you cant play dont play, if you dont have the ability of learning play with an calculator machine, but leave the people who want to have fun. For me is really anoying , maybe when i can play better i wont be complainig about those Laggers but anothers.... Hope Bungie really takes some measures. If you have green connection Play if Not go to another server with alot of Laggers and then the match takes 2 hours because no one can kill no one. You can have you name on the wall but its not your ability that puts you there just a simple hardware tool that any kid could do. Iam sorry for all of you

3 RepliesFirst of all lets get this straight every one hates those who cheat in pvp games. They are just too crappy or lazy to actually learn to play properly, or they are just a sad individual to begin with. Second I agree with adding more servers to the pot to help lessen the load that destinys servers get but I think your idea of not allowing players with possible bad connections to play is very short sighted. Here is why maybe some one has a shitty connection but cannot afford a better one that's many people right there next you have to realize not every one has access to a decent connection all the time many areas in the U.S. Still have yet to reach 1.5mbs let alone 12mbs which is barely enough to stream HD movies. Then you have modems that don't talk to each other properly and routers and modems that block ports not many know how to open properly. So complain about lag all you want but don't think that it's right to punish those who have no choice. Lag switchers should be caught yes but we all deal with them not just you we all deal with lag it will always be there whether we like it or not

That's exactly what it means, don't let your crappy connection screw up what's supposed to be a good time for other people. If you have a bad connection, yet are playing on a console with everything up to date in Destiny (HoW), you have your priorities in the wrong place. Connection first, game later. Edit: Looks like someone further down had a similar idea to me, oh well

I too have a video of a lag switcher. I messaged him during the match telling him I recorded the video and have reported him. He did not respond and stopped lag switching during the TOO match.

Last week somebody lagged switched our team and kicked on of us,but we still kicked their ass.

I've heard that some are rumored to know how to cheat by lagswitching or something like that. To them I say, I pity you. If this is really happening I hope the Bungie banhammer knocks you to orbit so you that gravity can't bring you back down to the Crucible! 2.) It's easy for someone who is struggling to get a flawless to find something or someone to blame. I can see a lot of players having natural lag, losing, and saying that the enemy lag switched. To them I say, get better : p

I have Windstream Internet, and I do believe they engage in throttling. Best I can hope for usually is 5 MBPS, and at worst, well you know. My friends know my internet is bad, and that's why we really haven't tried Trials of Osiris, 'cause I don't want to cost them a loss when its me. Trust me, when you lag out 'cause of Internet on the last Boss of PoE or on a nightfall, you can feel pretty bad about letting the whole team down. That being said, whatever can be done to prevent cheating, I'm down with. My PvP stats aren't the best, but I got them the right way at the right time, and that's the only way I want them. Question: How the heck do you even make this happen on PURPOSE? I mean, isn't that just too much trouble to go through?!? Its not like Bungie doesn't give people a lot of ways to achieve great weapons or level up. In short, I think your post has merit. I would rather lose the right way than cheat to a victory, and you can quote me on that, with my bad internet and all.

It is beyond my control. If i host a game pvp or pve for my friends there is lag. I am often in "yellow bar" or "red bar". But i am not lag switching. If i join others peoples games it works fine. My bar is still red or yellow but there doesn't seem to be a problem in pve. Yet i time and time again get abused bie headset or messages in pvp because of my connection. AND i am a mid level player at best. Im not a good player pvp. My stats show that. All of that being said.. does this mean i dont deserve the chance to play trials? Or online at all? Your idea while solid has many issues.. what if uou are 8-0 and thrn someone in your house starts streaming a movie.. net dropps a bit.. your mid game abiout to go 9-0 so g ou arent walking away now are you.. Oh no your booted. That weather looks bad... may slow things down........ sorry booted again. Aee you being kicked because of reasons beyond your control or are you cheating? So am i a cheat? I want people who are obviously cheating to pay the price.. but not at my expence or expence of people in my situation.

Went to IB for the first time last night and straight away we was faced with 2 players who were apparently using this Lag switch. It was very annoying. We persevered and lost. next match was so much better without them. We ALL on our side reported them both.

Edited by PSNkenny: 6/5/2015 8:51:59 AMiv done a fair share of trials and IB and only ran into 1 lag switcher.(it was obvious, kept going red green red green red green) iv played people who lagged but not people doing it intentionally(at least that i could notice) very often. im sure they're out there but it dont seem to be as big of a problem as many are making it out to be. i think this is more a case of the few being louder then the many.

I play with ppl on different sides of the world, so one of us maybe has a red bar,but I've yet to notice us having any lag

I rather play another mode that will actually garner real rewards in destiny. Especially if Bungie is not going to implement anything that works to fix this issue. I find that if there is any lag at all, the lagging team gets a loss and booted back to orbit or banned. If not well I'll continue to sit out that mode entirely as it's a waste of time and energy to get pulverized by players that don't know how to play fair. Even the Iron Banner is a little better then this because at least you get up to five coins and then when you win you get to redeem them. In this Trails thing any lag will cause a mark on your weekend play. Then if it's constantly the case well there goes you're whole weekend opportunity to even get anything.

Nothing more anoying than shooting someone with a shotgun multiple times and they take no damage whatsoever. I wonder when bungie will release the destiny lagswitch bundle. You know so people don't half to buy them separately.

My team ran into a couple teleporting, invulnerable teams that destroyed us in ToO. Stopped playing and didn't go back. It shouldn't be allowed in Bungies end game showpiece
