At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?

No, DeeJ. No, no, no and no. This is a fundamentally bad philosophy. This is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. While a challenge can be fun, challenge should come from well designed game mechanics. Not from trying to find players to cooperate with in this largely co-op driven/bolstered game. What's more frustrating for players? Having a poor experience raiding and failing with randomns, or never having a chance to raid because of no in-game matchmaking?

  • If that's the philosophy for the game, then why doesn't it exist in the game? That's like saying my philosophy is to be vegetarian then eating a kebab. Mumbo -blam!-ing jumbo. Show it's the philosophy by making it part of the game. Then you won't have to come up with this trash all the time. Show, not tell.

  • Hey Deej, I agree with everyone above. Allow players to have OPTIONAL matchmaking for end game content. Especially for nightfalls etc. If they wanna form a team they can but allow us this and we will be able to mix with a lot more people and not just one set of people.

  • Why don't Bungie give us some in game tools to seek out each other like OPTIONAL Matchmaking for those who don't want to use the LFG Website

Why don't you get off your asses and use that enormous budget to put a worthwhile feature into the game instead of half-assing it and outsourcing to external sites?

Sorry DeeJ, but this is a really, really, really poor reply to a genuine concern shared by thousands of your player-base. I enjoy playing Destiny. It has its faults, sure. But what game doesn't? I've been playing since Alpha and I'm not going anywhere. My girlfriend and I play every night and it's actually (as trite as this may sound) brought us closer together. All of that being said, it's frustrating that at this point, because I don't have four other friends (and neither does my girlfriend) who actively still play the game, that I can't access endgame content. I have tried going to LFG. No one responded to my ad. So just writing this whole issue off by saying in a nutshell, "welp, part of the fun is scouring forums for hours to search for like-minded players" feels like a kick in the shin. Hope all is well with you, though, DeeJ. Keep up the good work. Maybe we'll run into each other in the Crucible sometime! :D

It has already been proven that random people brought together through LFG can beat your end game content. It is no longer a valid argument that the end game content is too difficult for randomly thrown together players. Matchmaking. Make it happen.

  • I actually agree with this; you want an in-game LFG? Go to the tower.

  • We don't seek each other out because the tools available are piss poor, no so poor they don't have a pot to piss in. That poor. It's clunky, it's slow, it's old, it doesn't work half the time, and you have the ability to have a raging good OMM or LFG system in game but you're too lazy so you started a forum did you?! Nice solution there genius. Wow that's top rate. Here is what I don't understand. Why as a company would you give up control of a service that directly effects your business. Why would you not include services that are desired and used knowing that their exclusion lowers the experience for many and will eventually lead to lost sales. If I operate a golf course why would I let a 3rd party book tee times when I have a chance to directly engage, meet, impression, and help my customer at the very beginning if their experience? Yes they may still play a round but the third party is slow, rude, and starts me out with a negative feeling before I begin my experience. As a business philosophy it makes utterly no sense what so ever. I guarantee you sit down with a business head there, myself, and Deej would be changing his tune in a hurry. It goes to show how isolated experienced employees can be so blind to their business. They really don't understand at all. It's like games that make it to market without control options like Legacy. It's because they are designed by computer experienced players that didn't learn on Golden Eye. They have no idea that the product doesn't add up for others. It's beyond their experience so they can't. They may have performed their tasks admirably but in the end any game without control options is an utter failure by the entire design team. As is Destiny headed that way, an entire failure so far without OMM or in game rock star LFG. It's not opinion it simply is a 7/10 until it's fixed. Rock star 7 but still.

  • You know. I payed for TDB and not once did the raid because I don't have the fireteam to do it. I'm just a casual gamer who just wants to play with random players. A one level stand as you will

  • lets call your philosophy about not having matchmaking in your game a failed experiment... people (like me) are getting frustrated and aggravated about not being able to play whenever we want. my time is often limited as with so many other gamer here in the forum. there are bunch of reasons why people want a in-game solution for forming a fire team but you want to hold on to your "philosophy"? i love to play destiny but i am not sure how long before the bad association will outweigh the good... best regards

  • Hey I know you aren't to blame. It really needs to happen though. My experience finding people at least on this forum has not gone well to say the least. Matchmaking for simpler things like nightfall and 32&34 PoE at the very least. Yes, those are very simple.

  • There is no way to seek or search for other guardians...... How about you delete your friends list that is full of staff that are payed to play, and no doubt some kiss asses, or media relations. Now with no friends list, don't tell them you work at Bungie, play random times on a limited logged on time (not play time but logged on), limit your friend slots because you have other slots taken already, turn off your tablet because not everyone has one, oh and plug in that phone across the room. Ok now you are set. Now start getting into that 34 Poe to upgrade a favourite void shotgun for a nightfall void burn that might come (Even though it's useless now in a month). Now let's say that you have just 1.5 hours to be logged on. Imagine the Poe is almost done just 1 hour in (longer than needed with 2 of your 5 friends but they were not on so you used LFG and (like OMM you got a couple ok ish players but one was 13 and was set on void walker, the other was pretty good but no mic being used. Tough luck tough they were the only ones you could find on time on the forums. Now crap your alarm goes off and it's shut down time! No one more wave and the light is yours! But it's only been an hour! Oh right seeking, inviting, re seeking, waiting, replacing, all took you 1/2 hour. Too bad for you. No check points even though you have double the kills of your team mates combined, did all the leg work, came prepared, all down the tubes but you have a job in the morning and can't push it on sleep. How enraged you would be!!! It's a common situation in your world. That's when I scream for OMM because it would have been the SAME social experience, the SAME players, the SAME content, it's all the bloody well SAME. BUT it would have been completed, I would have earned my reward, 2 other guardians would have earned a reward, and we would all have had 1/2 hour of more pleasure to pound out keys, bounties, and patrol. Instead of wasting the whole 1.5 hours and hanging out in orbit. fWI there is no social or interactive activity in orbit.

  • Lol what he is saying here is MAKE FRIENDS nerds. I'm a class a D bag and even I've managed to form a clan and complete a disturbing amount of raids. Look for good players in strikes and say hello. If you see they are in a clan ask if you may join. Hard to make friends when your busy crying that you don't have any.

  • That is such a cop-out DeeJ. I work 55-60 hours a week on third shift, and not a single one of friends play Destiny any longer because of the lack of matchmaking. So yea, finding a team is a challenge, but its I a challenge that I don't have time for. Stop making excuses about why matchmaking won't work and start developing/implementing solutions that will make it work. Now get cracking, or get out.
