What's your take on the Fallen overall? After reading the new cards I'm starting to believe they aren't evil. I think they are trying to survive. I also think that they may have had contact with the Traveler before Earth. EDIT: Skolas is a very interesting character in my opinion. And the Queen has something very powerful, Harbingers. What could it be?

  • i think the harbingers are leftover supernukes that warminds like rasputin used to fend off the darkness

They still are ruthless murderous bandits but Variks shows that the Fallen can be a lot more. They aren't only fighting us. They're fighting the Hive, Vex and Cabal on occasion and even themselves! You gotta do what you can to survive and that goes the same for humanity.

  • I reckon if you read some of the newer cards that they themselves had a traveler once, although they called it the great machine, it sounds as if they too survived a collapse, called the whirlwind, and now survive as pirates trying to restore their former glory. I think thats why they pushed to capture the city so hard, they wanted back their great machine and their prestige. Variks himself wonders at one point whether the fallen could have had ghosts, and been guardians of their world. I feel bad for them honestly, its almost as if we've stolen their girlfriend without knowing it.

  • That makes me wonder since the Servitors are seen with religious reverence. Could the Servitors be the Fallen's equivalent of ghosts?

  • I don't believe that the servitors are the Fallen's versions of ghosts seeing as the traveler created the ghosts as a last ditch effort specifically to fight re-animate dead heroes to fight the darkness. Variks' dialogue reveals that no Fallen have ever been re-animated or have received similar creations to the ghosts (he in fact wonders if the Fallen would have received ghosts if they had been with traveler at the time the darkness caught up with it) I do however believe the servitors do have significance. They are spherical in shape just like the traveler and I believe that is on purpose. They also revere the servitors as gods, this could be because they control the ether they survive off of, but could also be because they are their version of "Golden Age Technology" created by the traveler, and they worship that tie back to their time in the sun. I believe the servitors have more in common with the Exo and the Warminds than they do with the dinklebots Hope that helps

  • I see what you're saying and I can see that being possible. I was just thinking along the lines that different Traveller's may have given different races different things along the lines of ghosts. Servitors seem to fulfill a role similar to ghosts. They don't follow around single units but they do typically accompany groups of Fallen. Helping them fight, likely supplying information and that they're a religious symbol for them they can very well represent something of their former traveller or life itself, perhaps in this case afterlife. As all religions seem to tie themselves up in that.

  • Thats very interesting! I really like that idea, that multiple travellers faced the darkness and each one had a way of combating it. Ours created the ghosts to revive fallen warriors and the Fallen's created the Servitors to function as battle commanders, Ship navigators, and Ether suppliers. I think thats an awesome idea! Because we can definitely assume that the Fallen had a traveller at some point, but theres still no evidence it was the same one that hovers above the city today!
