Religion killed Giordano Bruno because of his differential beliefs (he wasn't far from the truth) and imprisoned Galileo Galilei because he believed that Earth wasn't the center of the universe. Religions were created by men to control the weak (and in some texts men are considered superior to women). Science has democratized women's rights and even shed light on many mysteries. We'd be better off without religion (my god is stronger than your god), the chaos we witness today can be attributed to religion.
