Geomancy and Joyeuse connection

From the Joyeuse Formula Thread we know that Destiny's central character should resemble Charlemagne's in some way. From the other geomancy thread we have a very strong connection to the seven layers of heaven myth The Seven Layers of heaven myth was most notably used in Paradisio the third installment to Dante's the Divine comedy. Each of the layers Dante travels through aligns with the order of the geomancy symbols In the 5th layer Dante meets Cacciaguida, who warns of a future exile. and other religious warriors including Charlamagne) This fifth layer is Mars: home to the warriors of the faith. I think our research needs to focus on the Paradisio

  • This has probably been stated already, but Bungie did say in a Mail Sack that there's a "Vault of Charlemagne" on Mars, which as the OP mentioned is the fifth layer of Dante's Paradisio and where he meets Charlemagne. Coincidence, I think not...

  • What if the traveler is Dante? Bringing with it creatures from each of the layers of heaven or hell.

So Puerto Princesa has the longest underground rivers in the world Osiris - god of the underworld - destiny faction Nile - support important river to the relgious beleifs of the egyptians Ton's of reglious connection with geomancy and 7 layers of heaven, joyeuse and charlamagne the proto-crusader Styx, mythical underground river of the after life There is something to this - the amount of water we have seen in the destiny art. I can just see Lorraine McLees, bungie artists and person most likely responsible for the puerto princesea map in a meeting. Everyone is all like "man wouldn't it be cool if we had a city with an underground river in it, because it's really important to the game play blah blah blah," and Lorraine McLees is like, "oh man there is this city my family went to as a kid and it has the longest underground river in the world." Am I reading way to much into this stuff or is there something to this?

Looking at the One in Seven tickit map I am noticing some differnces in the orginal puerto princesa map. There are five additions to the map Addition 1 - the massive planet or moon in the top right of the image (I personally think is Mars) Addition 2 - A dot with what appears to be an orbit around it (I think this is the earth with the Traveler) Addition 3-5 - other planets or moons Assuming that these are planets or whatever I can't help but notice there are 5 additions and also five factions. I think this is further evidence of a connection between the factions, puerto prince map, and the geomancy figures which allude to the differning layers. Thoughts?

      • According to my research - Charlemagne was responsible for alot of relgious wars, and is veiwed as the proto-crusader. Geomancy is in direct oppostion to relgion - especially Christrianity, becuase it was believed to orginate in the middle east, and even the Qu'ran has refernecs to it [indirect evidence only from Islamic dictionary only]. I think there will be crusade like undertones of relgious battles centered around lone cities like Jerselum or Saragossa from the crusades and the song of Roland respectfully. I just can't help but feel there is more to this, something we are missing. I still don't know where the "one of seven" hoodie symbol fits into this beyond perhaps the eighth layer of heaven. Things that I am chewing on - geomancy is one of seven forbidden arts. Dante's the paradisio mentions Charlemagne, and has the same order of levels to the geomancy figures.

          • Second thoughts - might be wrong about the Crusades. At the beggining of Paradiso theres mention of them ascending a 'sphere of fire believed to be in the Earths upper atmosphere' makes me think of the traveler. hmmm

            • I think the Divine Comedy was covered in ODST`s story. Was Dante not part of The Crusades? From the little we've seen I feel theres more parrallels to the Crusades than the 7 circles of hell (again, covered in ODST) - the one city that every one is trying to get (possible reference to Jerusalem) and the knights (possible reference to the knights templers) protecting it. They certainly seem to all be related in some way anyway. Pretty cool how Joyeuse popped up too, which I said might happen in the geomancy thread - TOOT!

From reading about the third installment of Dante's the Divine comedy, I found out that he makes his adventure on the wednesday after Easter. If we were to find the Wednesday after easter in 2013 it would April 3rd. April is the 4th month and 4 plus 3 is 7. Bungie's favorite number. I'm betting on an April 3rd announce date.

                • He died January twenty-eighth, the seventh day from the time that he took to his bed, at nine o'clock in the morning, after partaking of the Holy Communion, in the seventy-second year of his age and the forty-seventh of his reign. Connection the number 7.
