I've decided to write this because there are way too many people who don't understand the dynamics of journalistic writing, and reviewing. So please, follow my tips, and I guarantee more people will read your nerf posts.
Make your point immediately
When writing a large whatever you guys write, people will most likely not read the whole thing. That's why, it is imperative that you make your most interesting and compelling point immediately. For example, if you would like the thorn to be nerfed because the poison does too much damage over time, it would be much better to point that out right away, than to say it in the middle of a paragraph.
Space out your paragraphs
It is incredibly taxing on the eyes to write in one large paragraph. It makes the piece look so much longer than it actually is. No matter how interesting your argument is, no one will read it if it's all in one paragraph. That's why it is important to create a new paragraph for every new point you make, even if it isn't entirely that different from your main point.
I'm sorry to keep using the thorn as my example, but I'm about to do it again. If I think thorn should be nerfed because it's range is too effective, the poison does too much damage, and it's way too overly used, those should all be separate paragraphs.
Although you may think to the contrary, it is much better to have too many paragraphs than to have too little, so just keep that in mind.
Make your points stand out
If you have an important point to make, and it doesn't fit in your first 3 sentences, bolden it. Because while I guarantee most people haven't read this whole thing, I'm sure they've read everything that's bold (unless they stopped after the title). But don't overuse it either. Never use all caps. It'll make you seem like you're yelling, which just doesn't work. Remember, appropriately boldening points will ensure that people at least get a general idea of your argument.
Use proper grammar to the best of your ability
Grammar error ridden pieces will be picked apart and not taken seriously. I'm sure you can slide with a couple, but please try to do the best you can. Remember that you're means you are, and u is actually you. I'm sure just doing that correctly will make your topic more compelling.
Well have fun guys! And good luck on getting people to read your nerf posts! Maybe people won't think you're 10 anymore.

Thank you. I'm now confident I can go away and write a four-star triple A topic. Let me see... WTF bungie! Fix your broken servers and -blam!-ing raid bugs! Ah, it's like Shakespeare.....

How to be condescending: Write a forum post in a game that's rated T on how to write a forum topic.

Please check out this weapon balancing article and give feedback. It's a good read, thanks. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/117004290/0/0

Edited by RübblyRanch: 5/10/2015 4:09:17 AMBut WAIT!!!!!! This is where you got everything wrong! You cant write a topic in this forum, only type. :)
Just kidding, thanks for the tips on English class. :)
Sadly, most people might get offended by ur lecture rather than learn from it lol.

Helpful tips. I do have to admit I have a tendency to ramble when I'm making a point.
-
Thanks for this useless condescending bullshit post!!!
-
You forgot add TL;DR. Many people on here have very short attention spans.

Thanks mr English professor. Means a lot that you would take time out of your busy day to teach us normal people

Have you not noticed the English language is becoming extinct?

Good work bro. Keep it trending

You mean "too few paragraphs"

Edited by LONE RONIN2012: 5/6/2015 7:25:03 PMMost posters are kids that couldn't care less about proper writing. That said, good post though.

I didn't read it.
but I did. Nice one
as helpful as this is I think it'd be more effective to entitle a piece, "how to not be closed minded". grammar, paragraphs, emboldening importance, etc, does nothing if one's stance is cemented.

Was this just a masked Thorn nerf post ;)? Very clever my friend, very clever. I remember in the Halo games you could get one shotted by the pistol from crazy ranges the Thorn is no different to me. You just have to play accordingly.

100% Ageed

Edited by Man Torpedo FTW: 5/7/2015 3:24:27 AMI have found out that the only way to get your topic to trend is to either complain, bash Bungie, or troll. That's the only reason most people use this forum now and it's pathetic. If I were Bungie I'd just remove the feedback forum. It's not even used properly anymore.

I see what you did there

Not an essay board so derp on and f off
