Anybody Else Hoarding Exotic Shards for HOW?
I have been putting them aside and buying more every week from Xur. I have enough coins to get another 19 if I want to spend them all at once. Since I have around 40 Exotic Weapons and Armor I will need a bunch when HOW arrives. I much prefer exchanging motes for exotic engrams and dismantling what the Cryptarch gives me from them though. It will be a huge start to use them right away and upgrade everything.
I have even done some of the easy bounties like the one for the SGA just to get the exotic and shard them too.

Getting vanguard, crucible, cryptarch and all factions to the edge of leveling. *with 3 characters when leveling everything when HoW releases + 20 crucible and 20 vanguard commendations = 22 mail packages 3. Gathering and buying mats (ie- spin metal) making sure I have 400 of each. 4. Making sure all 3 characters have 200 crucible and 200 vanguard marks. 5. Finish 5000exp/100rep bounties and legendary engrams (saving only 3 legendary engrams to quickly upgrade 3 cryptarchs), ready to turn in to level everything as soon as HoW hits. 6. Completing full VoG and Crota runs again to save radiant and ascendant materials for currency exchange. 7. Saving glimmer turn in items (ie- silken codex) for quick glimmer if needed. 8. Stocking up on telemtries, strange coins, motes of light and exotic shards. 9. Having all 3 characters have 10 public event packages saved up (don't want more to save room for leveling packages). On top of materials these count as exp for leveling new gear. 10. Clear work schedule (vacation and sick days). Got 5 ready for 19th-24th. 11. Have fun and profit! Edit: A lot of people telling me this is wasted energy. The thing is I have only been doing this for the last month and it has not taken that long. Just a few hours a day after work or on days off. And you are saying what's the point? I will only get a day or two head start. I do it because it's fun, I like preparation, just like hoarders like hoarding, elitists like being at the top, and raiders love doing he raids 500x.

3 RepliesI have 78 exotic shards - more than enough. When the DLC drops, I'll have every maxed exotic weapon/armor in the game, save for whatever new exotics are introduced.

Need 64, have 32. Should be alright by launch but I'll be pretty short on coins.

Don't have to.... The sheer amount of no land beyonds I have dropped has me BC well stocked

I already have about 20 in reserve. In my experience, that's a good range to have. But when HoW drops, you're only gonna need about half those shards.
