The Last Word is broken...not Over Powered - There is a difference

Seeing a lot of people complaining about TLW and saying it is an overpowered hand cannon. In reality it isn't...the problem is that the hipfire perk is broken and giving the precision damage bonus on ADS shots which makes it a 2-shot kill for normal use sometimes. Bungie needs to take a look at it and fix it. Normally TLW would be a 3-4 hit kill, but it seems like a fast kill because of the fire rate. This is designed to be competitive at close range, because if you try to get a kill at mid-range/long range with this gun, the time to kill is going to drop off quite a bit with the poor range of the weapon. Last Word is really a CQC hand cannon designed to compete up close with shotguns and other CQC weapons. The problem is with the perk broken you can get precision shots of 111 dmg when ADS'ing and also get really high damage body shots. If this perk was working properly I don't think you'd see so may people complaining. Just wanted to shed a bit of light on it.

 • The perk works correctly. It has random bonus damage and extra precision damage when firing from the hip. The ads precision damage you are seeing is the random damage boost from the first half of the perk, which will also increase body shot damage as well, but you probably didn't notice it. With aggressive ballistics, the bonus shot will hit for 111 precision damage, making the gun a two shot kill weapon at random and staying in line with what the first half of the perk says. The hip fire bonus damage is also there but is highly unlikely because getting a headshot from the hip is difficult. If anyone has a number for this damage please let me know, I have yet to see it. The most bonus shots I have had in a row are two, and the frequency of these bonuses is low, possibly 2 to 6 per match. Because of this, and tlw's unreasonably low range, it is a strong but balanced weapon. It seems overpowered because the large maps have been removed from most playlists, turning crucible into a run and gun close range war zone. If two to three larger maps were reintroduced into crucible you would likely have less TLW users and less complaining posts about game mechanics that seem broken, but aren't.
