Bows and Arrows in destiny
Can we see and use a bow and arrow in destiny, a crossbow wouldn't be a bad idea either. I would love to have one as a special weapon. I think it'll be cool to have a little history in our arsenal. Recurve, compound or crossbow would be a cool exotic to have and getting a kill with it would be as rewarding as a throwing knife kill. Bungie plz make this happen

I can see how a futuristic bow would work. Heck futuristic or not they added an old hunting rifle I could see it in the arsenal. It could be an arc hunters new super where you use a crossbow(s) with lighting exploding Arrows.. But it sounds too much like golden gun but I wouldn't mind If they did have a bow how would anyone want it to be? Super? Exotic?

37 RepliesOk so we are in a post apocalyptic age. We are revived and imbued with the light of the traveler. Not only is this post apocalyptic, but we are still shooting bullets.. I repeat still shooting bullets. Our guardians are strong enough to melee enemies even master chief would struggle with. Now you want us to go to prehistoric levels of weapons after a technological golden age? The same Golden age we traverse the galaxy and create all kinds of technology, eliminate diseases, extend human life beyond sanity, and obtain levels of knowledge well beyond any other time. You really want a bow and arrow or a crossbow. As an archer in real life here. Our current bows at best will hit 320 fps and that is depending on if your even using factory tests to which are not the same arrows you would use. These are compound bows. Lets just for fun entertain the idea we find this magical material that can handle 1000 fps. Now your guardian who goes through hell as it is is going to pull back somewhere around 300-400 pounds in a compound bow set up or in re-curve a full 500 pounds or so. Over and over and over after countless enemies. It does not even make any sense to do. It already takes 3 magazines to drop yellow enemies in nightfall. So lets just throw a couple hundred arrows at them... How about no to the whole idea of this, go play Warframe they use bows.

Yep, once the U.S Military starts using bows and arrows to eliminate threats. Maybe they'll hit a planes engine with a arrow and take it down!

6 RepliesWe ride around on Sparrow speeders, travel across the solar system to other planets in jump ships and watch in disbelief as our arrows bounce off the armour of our enemies. Our enemies laugh at our screams as they rip our entrails out of our broken bodies whilst also wondering why these stupid humans brought bow and arrows to a gun fight.

Cross bow with a rotating chamber that holds 3-6 rounds like a nerf gun lol. Wouldn't that be sweet. Like a futuristic twist on an old classic. Give it to us now bungie lol.

Instead of going with the prehistoric bow let's make it appropriate for this time period as we have seen the publics reaction to weapons of historic origin,dragons breath and no land beyond. How about this. We make it a cross bow made of the same material that thunderlord is made of. Have it be an arc elemental weapon that belongs in the secondary slot. The bolts instead of the arrow of today is made of the same material that the hard light has been designed from. Give the bow the traditional shape with the two curves coming off the stock and in the center is a fusion rifle style barrel. When you fire the weapon two arcs strike the center barrel that come from the two curves of the bow. After each shot it takes a second to cool down in the same way a fusion rifle does. In essence it's the mechanics of a fusion rifle with the design of a cross bow that shoots a bolt that hits like a carbine.

I think might be a good idea for the third hunter subclass. You activate and a bow made of pure void energy appears in you hand. Similar to the golden gun, you can fire arrows of pure energy. I think I'd make it like golden gun, in that there's a limit to the number of arrows. But give it like 6 or 8 eight arrows, longer range and less damage than the golden gun. Maybe give it a small area of effect for misses, in the perk tree for the sub class.

Ok, here is my nerd BS to satisfy the masses: These bows should be more of an anti-gravity or inertia-less projectile system that just uses the "bow an arrow" as a model because it is a proven design. They aren't compound bows and don't use strings or cables but they look like a bow.

You "eject" just in time but the ship is unable to materialize your gear as well so you have to scrounge for weapons until help arrives. Each class builds their own heavy during this story. An ancient weapon could also be the 3rd subclass as well with a selectable element...just thinking.
