I would really love a response from a developer or even deej, but I know that's not going to happen so I would like a response from my fellow guardians. I understand that it may not be the way this fight was intended to be encountered, but who's to say we're not playing within the rules to the game? Staying on the cliff turns a hard part into an easy, cheap win. Are we wrong for doing this, or is it just a really good strategy? Please be honest.

My first completion was done down below one person for back left and right respectively.. But its just strategy I think its only real application is if you're in a rush because the risk of missing just one is a wipe. If it were a glitch it would've been dealt with because as you said 90% of teams do it this way now.
-
A good strategy. When I am on my fireteam, we go down. If not then it depends on who I am playing with. Either way I don't care how we do it as long as we get it done.
-
It's not even a discussion. 90% of people with an opinion about this, don't have a skilled enough team or skills themselves to jump in and battle the oracles and Templar. A good portion of you have never even been on a raid team with the balls to attempt it. So it becomes the standard. You're missing out on a good time.

its not a glitch unless you are going out of your way to make the game behave in a different way than it should. IE glitching into environment. Heavy ammo glitch at crota. In this case all you are doing is using the environment to snipe. You aren't 100% safe in these areas eaither. Snipers can get you and so can the templar.

its not a glitch i always run relic so im at the bottom no matter what it doesnt matter to me either way
-
Good strategy :)

Don't call it a glitch, call it tactically placing yourself so you don't get shot to death.

When we Raid we do both Strats depending on how the evening goes. Sometimes 1 or 2 stay up top too. I normally focus on the Right and Right/Left hidden. So as long as I'm hammering on those up top or down below nobody else cares. Personally I think since they placed that Left hidden pretty well and often have the Templar block the left most they made it difficult, but not impossible for people to stay up top encouraging people to go down.
-
i prefer doing it at bottom but if there are some weaker players in the team it can be easier from the top
-
I don't stay up top anymore, I use the right side strategy and don't bother with the oracles
-
You're using glitch wrong. Glitch would be considered doing something outside of game parameters. This is more like design fail and us using it to our advantage.
-
More like a design oversight.

It was the Hobgoblins that probably inspired the idea in the first place. It can still be a pretty tricky strategy, especially on hard. 2 people up top with Icebreakers or Praedyths. 4 down bottomtaking care of ground troops. It's a sound military strategy so why should it be considered cheesing? I do both.

Edited by inphablue: 4/27/2015 7:28:19 AMI'm thinking it's an exploit/cheese. With all the enemies that spawn down there and the Templar shooting, it seems like everyone is supposed to jump down. My guess is that they put the Oracles in plain view so they can be killed easily, it might be a bit difficult to kill one with all the enemies. I don't really think they would spawn enemies if everyone is sniping, seems kind of useless. Bungie probably hasn't patched it because too many scrubs would cry.
-
If the hobgoblins sniping me aren't cheating how can I be by doing the very same thing? This is the only cheese in the game I am aware of that can logically be argued. I never hate on anyone for their playing choices cheese or not. But this is the only one I will ever defend.
-
How in the hell would it be a glitch? There's no glitching involved. It's sniping at things in plain view from a normal play area. It may be a cheese, but it's not even remotely a glitch.
-
I do oracles from the top but the Templar is way more fun from the bottom.
-
I think it can sometimes be easier to stay down on the bottom so you can cleanse easily if any oracles are missed. If you're sniping and miss an Oracle, you're all dead except for the relic holder
-
Edited by Apolloshot: 4/27/2015 7:08:11 AMThe proper choice isn't here. It's not a glitch, it's a cheese. It's also good strategy, but also a cheese. Given this information I had to vote good strategy.
-
Edited by NIHNJAHMAHN: 4/27/2015 6:58:45 AMIt's a cheese. Plain and simple. People who do it usually don't do the raid any other way, they are ruining the fun for themselves and the team.
-
it's good strategy and if it bothered bungie they'd end it. Same with standing up top on the nexus. I was in a group that simply couldn't figure out how to kill the templar up top. I mean they were bad. is it that hard to shot the oracles then shoot the templar? Eventually everyone quit. hilarious.
-
Glitch? No. Exploit... Kinda.
-
I wish that wussy strategy was an option.
-
All the elitists claim they're so great for being able to complete it with full fire team on the ground. But in the end, if you know you're capable of and have done it before (multiple times), why would doing it from the top be such a problem? Its not a glitch and frankly, idc enough to put in enough effort anymore. This game is just so sad. :/

Those results tho :)
