Inferno is good. But why do I feel like it's a small bandaid on a huge shotgun wound that is the current state of the Crucible?

I'm just slightly worn out from an unbalanced system. Clearly the whole; one person shows up with an awesome gun and pwns, then everyone rushes off to find that gun so they can pwn too thing, has clearly gotten out of hand. All Destiny has now is a mad rush for the best guns. The story, raids, and strikes are just reruns over and over again at this point and the Crucible has gone way into Tilt Mode now. lol. The thing that has kept me playing Destiny has been the Crucible. But kill times are ridiculous at this point. Who knows when or if it'll really get better. Hawkmoon, The Last Word, Thorn, and Vex Mythoclast can kill you so fast! Getting 2 shotted with a primary weapon is NOT ok. lol. (4 headshots with a Battle Rifle in Halo 2 was the quickest I've ever seen until now. Not counting CoD. lol.) I've unloaded with a heavy ammo blasting machine gun on someone using one of those before mentioned hand cannons and they still managed to kill me either before or at the same time I killed them. Several times! That is NOT ok. lol. And any shotgun with a little range and shot package is a one shot kill. (Though shotguns are SUPPOSED to be able to one shot people. Like in Halo.) And of course Supers add that extra little exclamation mark of, "I really just one shotted half your team!" lol. I'm just saying it's kind of ridiculous. Kill times are way too fast and unbalanced. I miss the early days of Destiny. Like in the first month when almost no one was running around with exotics in the Crucible. Well not at first anyways. It was so much better back then! Everyone had the same uncommon, rare, and occasional legendary weapons. No one was pwning with op weapons. Back then the people that pwned were pwning because of skill. "I got a rare Shingen-E with stability perks. Time to go 22-5 in Clash cause I'm a beast!" Good luck with that NOW. lol. I remember having many matches back in the first few weeks of playing Crucible and pwning people with my rare weapons. It was fair because not a lot of people were playing with super high damage primaries. Heavy weapons were the best way to go on really long killing sprees back then. And that is how it SHOULD be. Bungie talked about it themselves once saying something to the tune of, "We can't keep ramping up weaker weapons to match stronger weapons or kill times will just get too fast." Paraphrased a little bit but that's basically one of the things they talked about before that weapon tuning patch came out awhile back. What they don't realize is with the way Destiny is designed kill times in the Crucible were "destined" to ramp up faster and faster, as more and more people acquired more and more exotics. That is what happens when you turn pvp into a multiplayer experience where you, "bring your own gun." It's like an arms race in the real world where a few countries have nukes so a bunch of other countries rush off to make nukes too, so everyone can kill everyone faster. The only difference in Destiny is that we get to respawn. lol I feel the "arms race" has got to stop. Somehow, someway a change needs to happen. We need to get back to the "roots" of Destiny. Back when it was fresh and new. Back when several of my friends hadn't quit playing yet. Back before the time where a few of my friends bought Destiny, beat the "story", tried the Crucible, and then said they were done with it. It saddens me that half of my clan barely plays anymore because of lack of more to do in pve and the harshness of the Crucible. Clearly Bungie is going to have to put on the brakes and slow down the Crucible experience. Maybe they can do this by turning ALL primary weapons down a bit. Like 10%. But only in the Crucible. That would probably slow down overall kill times since the last update made it a little less common to get shotgun blasted all match long. (This last update REALLY has made the before mentioned exotic primaries important in Crucible.) Another way that might work is have a sort of "barebones" Crucible list where no one can use exotics or legendaries. I would be perfectly OK with a playlist like this. It would be similar to how Destiny was when it first came out. :) But really all in all it boils down to design. Which means one way that might make it better is if Bungie went back to the old school, bread and butter that made them one of the premiere companies in competitive FPS gaming. Bring back the Halo style multiplayer. Where everyone had the same weapon and searched the map to pick up better weapons, instead of bringing your own weapons and going around picking up ammo for them. (Maybe no Supers as well?) For instance one possible layout for a Clash match would be this: Everyone would start with a legendary auto rifle like For The People. On the map very easy to spot icons would appear as you near a legendary pulse rifle like Three Little Words or a scout rifle like Another Nitc. You could just switch For The People out for one of these. (Or maybe have 2 different ones at the same time.) Then timers would appear; similar to how they do for ammo now, that showed the locations of a few legendary shotguns, fusion rifles, sniper rifles, and/or hand cannons. (Maybe even a heavy legendary.) When they spawn you could run and pick them up, replacing one of your current weapons. Then timers would appear for 2 or 3 exotic weapons to spawn, like Truth, Thorn, SUROS Regime, or who knows. Everyone would rush after the few of these that would appear and try and pick them up. Once you do you have a certain amount of ammo and then it's gone. Basically just like Halo Team Slayer back in the day. Balance issues would definitely drop in this kind of gametype. The only things to work on after this would be some more symmetrical maps with bases that have ease of accessibility. Simplicity doesn't look as pretty but it plays so much better! lol. But yea these are just a few ideas I've had from all my experiences of playing Destiny and being loyal to a game that I've found so many other people giving up on. Also drawing on my experiences with Halo and Call of Duty for comparison. (I love FPS games!) I know this game can be an amazing experience and I want to see it live up to the potential we all know it had before it came out last year. I just hope most of us are still around when and if it does. :) DarkRigel21 p.s. No I'm not completely bashing Destiny or the Crucible. I'm just expressing loving concern for a game I want to stay fresh and fun to play. I want Destiny to do good! Oh and before you say, "Get gud noob." or "Don't be a scrub." My K/D is actually fairly good and I DO have some exotics. (I only get pwned on certain occasions, like when the whole other team is running exotic hand cannons and vex. And I just can't get a certain few of said exotics.) lol. UPDATE: Well it's been several months since I posted this and things have changed some since then. Taken King has come out and several problematic exotic weapons are a little less a problem. Balance is in a strange place as of right now. I don't think it's completely fixed but it might be a Little bit better than before. Most people are complaining about things like lag, cheaters, and bugs. Plus apparently skill based matchmaking isn't popular. Didn't really know that was a thing. But I DEFINITELY agree with the lag, cheaters, and bugs problems. They need fixing big time. As far as balance is concerned I believe my above ideas are still good ideas to fixing this department. What do you think? Give this a bump if you agree with ANY of this. :)

  • 100% agree. Special ammo nerf has made crucible a hallway hand cannon shootout, and too often heavy and supers become a crutch for unskilled play. Those without exotic hand cannons or those who don't enjoy using hand cannons are at a clear disadvantage. For me, shotguns and plentiful special ammo was a way to fight on my terms if a team had 3+ players rolling thorn, tlw, ect. Now I just have to hope the opposing player can't hit two head shots in a row before my juju can get a kill.

    • The game is about unique guns and powers. 2 people can have the same gun buy the one with the right perks is the op one. If they remove everything that makes the weapons unique then destiny would be another generic fps like cod where everyone has the same guns and no unique feeling. I would definitely quit playing even after my 800 hours. This game is pve focused and it shows. Lack of pve content is the only reason many people even play pvp

      • I think you have some ideas, but I really can't get behind them. 1. Banning Legendaries/Exotics - No. I completely disagree. I worked hard to find the weapons I work best with, (right perks, stats, whatever). I like the Legendaries I bring in and have no desire to be forced to use some generic weapon that bungie says I *have* to start with and may not be good with in the Crucible, much less play a Halo-style PvP of run around and maybe look/find better weapons and get headshot while I'm trading one off for another because it's being camped.. 2. I have no idea what the "roots of Destiny" was like for the Crucible as I wasn't playing PvP for it back then. 3. Absolutely, positively, utterly and completely No to timers for weapons. 4. If you get rid of Supers than why not just get rid of any powers for all the classes at all? (in the Crucible, just for clarity sake) To take your view to the extreme, than no grenades, no blinking, no difference in recovery/armor/agility, nothing. This way you have cookie-cutter *everybody* and no-one is different or advantageous in some way.

          • I dont like the idea of weapons spawning with timers at all. I think what makes the Destiny PvP stand out is that I can use my character with my gear and not some generic skin with some generic weapons. If you want something like that you are free to play any other FPS. This doesnt mean that I think everything is ok in Crucible as it is.

            • All this sounds like a complaint that Destiny isn't COD or Halo, and instead of learning to play and enjoy Destiny, you want to make Destiny into Halo.

              • My problem with all of these things is that people seem to forget that Destiny isn't just some old FPS like COD or Halo. It is has an important MMO aspect that needs to be maintained. Balance via imbalance man; in mmos, the gear and skill tree is what is important. In Destiny, the gear is also important. It's just slightly easier for lower level people to hang on because it involves gunplay. These things make Destiny unique. Take them away, and you destroy a gaming enviorment.

                  • Maybe they shouldn't allow exotics in the crucible. All people do is complain about them. So much bitching...it's endless and tiresome. Maybe they should just take out crucible all together.

                              • i dont mind the shot guns getting little nerfed. but its the only thing i can use against the legendary hand canons. the should nerf them a little but ban the exotics from crucible. like the heavy ammo synthasis just not able to use them during it, of course let them use it for iron banner. cuase thats what its all about.

I think you have good points, but i think exotics are fine to have. I think the main problem though is the damage on those hand cannons are ridiculous. I say nerf the damage of primaries by 10% like you said, and then slightly reduce the fire rate of the 3 pistols

                                      • Honestly you made some very good points. And the early days of Crucibles were so much better then they are now. Why not just take exotics out completely and limit them to Iron Banner and pve? It would bring more excitement to the Iron Banner too. I don't think legendary weapons really brake the game all that much. I mean you can buy them from the houses that you are trying to lvl up in and can only buy them from Crucible marks. I don't like the idea of weapons on the maps because this is an mmo type game having pvp forced into it. I want to bring MY guns into Crucible with me. I worked for the marks to buy a lot of them by playing the Crucible so shouldn't it be fair to use them in it? Just my thoughts on this though. And yes I have all the Exotic HCs.
