I think it's soo weird! I've been creeped on by so many guys that do this... When I first started playing I assumed female characters would be used only by females, so I'd join parties with "females" in them, only to be pested by creepy dudes. WTF. Don't try to take advantage of me being stoked to see a fellow gal. :P

    • I chose a male warlock for my first character. Second, a male hunter. I thought the character model looked weird so I made a female. I made a female awoken warlock for the bow.

    • Actually most guys play female characters in MMOs because the hit box is usually smaller (doesn't work in destiny) while a males hit box is a lot bigger. But hey. You tried

    • I use only one female character in destiny, that is because I thought the origin story would slightly change... Nope! Also I do it because it bothers some gamers who are overly vocal about it. Helps me to weed out a holes who I wont enjoy playing with anyway.

        • Well my experience started when I was playing AD&D some years ago and my friend the DM thought it would be funny to have my character put on a hat of changing. I was pissed but he made me play the female or quit. So I had to change my mindset. Ever since I have balanced the number of female characters I play with the male. And games like Final Fantasy have heavy female participation. I don't find it awkward in the least. I also don't believe you should not play with someone just because they are playing someone of the opposite gender. That seems childish to me. Obviously if the person is stupid about it then you don't play with them again. But there are mature people that play this game and have characters of different gender.

        • Male characters look ugly and dance like s**t. Female characters look pretty and dance nicely (no dirty joke or anything like that is intended and no I'm not a pervert)

A couple months ago I started from scratch and created a black female titan. I'm a writer. Not published, but I write and enjoy the creative expression. I felt a female infantry soldier would be interesting because its not the norm in our society. I remember seeing a female in a group of airborn soldiers when I was in AIT. Those soldiers are seriuosly conditioned and combat ready. But seeing that girl shattered my preconceived notions and I thought it was cool as hell. I'll be the first to admit she could probably whip my ass Anyway, I was getting bored with the game and my exo male hunter. So I thought to myself a female soldier would be interesting and on top of that I made her an titan. As bad as it is to say, from our cultural standpoint that would be very unexpected. Playing with that female titan inspired me so much that she told me her name (Beth) and her story. I'm currently writing and posting the story on bungie's forum. There's no need for me to give the name of the story or promote it on this thread, this isn't the time or place. But I created two more, a warlock and hunter female and will soon tell their stories as well. I eventually scratched the female warlock and hunter. (Illiara and Fox)-- not fox as in hottie, fox as in her uncanny knack for survival. But I scratched them due to the way I was being treated. Let me tell you, if girls have to deal with these same things in real life? Man.. . I tell you what, I have a new respect for women and what they deal with. But DON'T get it twisted, men have there own set of sh## they have to deal with as well. I'm not going into detail, this post is too long anyway. But anyone who plays with a female Gaurdian understands my unsaid trails and I damn sure know women do.

            • Meh. All the guys I've come across that use female characters say it's because they'd rather look at a sexy female body... Absolutely pigs to be honest. Only ONE guy has given a legitimate reason to use a female character. He said they were faster and more agile, now I don't know if that's true, but it's better than saying "lol boobs and ass bruh". Grow up. I don't play with guys who use female characters because of the "lol look at that ass" mentality.

              •
Look, there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a male and using fem characters. Why do we do it? Because we prefer fem to male avatars, and there's NOTHING wrong with that you. It doesn't mean we're trying to trap you or make you feel any type of way. I personally play a fem character on all 3 slots, because I don't like the way make avatars look in this game. No I'm NOT gay. It has NOTHING to do with my sexual orientation. It has nothing to do with ANYTHING. Many male gamers do it, with NO malicious intentions. I'm sure any male gamer who doesn't can relate to that (HAVING FUN WITH RANDOM PLAYERS, BEING SOCIAL AND KILLING PEOPLE! :D *receives message* "Hey are you a girl? How old are you?" *responds* "Nah, I'm a guy :)" and then being immediately bombarded with "WTF YOU FAG OMG" "WTF YOU STUPID -blam!-ING TRAP! SELL YOUR XBOX!" And all this ignorant bullshit I don't wanna deal with. -__- no point to this post, just bitching lol.
Theres nothing wrong having fem characters look at the lara croft games or any game in general that has a strong fem leads. I have two fem characters warlock n hunter and one male titan. Its just how i see my characters playing out there own storys.

              • Next time someone messages you asking if you are a girl say yes. Then when you get invited to a party and they hear your voice, just tell them you have a deep voice and everyone says the same thing lol. Who cares. The subject is stupid. So should I not play tomb raider because it's gender locked? Is it gay for a guy to play games that have a girl as the main character? Lame.

              • Have a male Evo warlock purely for the irony of a magical robot, an female awoken hunter because let's face it's a drow or a night elf and whelp why not have one female character, finally a male Titan... He looks like a jock.... It's impossible not to make him look like he played high school football and went roid raging... May end up making it a female so I'm not playing as Ragnar the Viking.

              • I made a female warlock because of... Smaller hit range, better dance moves, always played as a male in games and wanted to try something new and yeah that's about it

I have an exo male hunter because it just looked bad ass I then made a male human warlock who was African american(idk if it racist but I wanted some black magic Lololol) And then I made an awoken female Titan for a few reasons: 1.) seemed right as the queens guards are female(the one that does bounties) 2.) As I see mostly male Titans it seemed like a sweet idea to see a slimmer version kicking their asses 3.) my Titan had a badass hairstyle that I still can't figure out how she fits it in her helmet. Not all guys are douchebags but I thought my reasoning was fun and legit lol

              • The only reason I chose to have a female Character (Now 2) is because 90% of Game have a Male Main Character and whenever I get a chance, I'm gonna pick a female just to change it up. Gotta admit, I was hit on by a guy who assumed I was a girl till I told him I was a guy which immediately started the Hate/Gay/Fag mail. It's just disappointing that This is what guys are like behind a screen.
