I understand there's no story. I understand Bng is hard at work on other money making endeavors. I understand Dinklebot was supposed to be an idiot from the start...
But why leave the story SO half assed, that there are huge gaps in even the simplest game interactions? Why has my Awoken character never heard of his people? It almost detracts from any real depth to this game.
Anyone else noticed they stupid gaps which shouldn't be? Is Bungie SO busy that they can't be trouble to repair in game dialogue or add a few cut scenes?

1 ReplyYou've been dead a long time. See that skeleton I passed? I couldn't revive him because decomposition won. You didn't decompose because you're supposed to be an exo. Tough break awoken freak.

19 RepliesI think the story is actually very rich and detailed, we just haven't seen it yet so some of the partial information we do see appears not to make sense. Expect the story to emerge gradually. Here are my nitpicks: why is the dead guardian still on the ground at the temple of Crota? Nobody can take the body to the city for burial? How do I kill swarm princes at level 7 and get killed by knights at level 31? If I destroyed Crota's soul, why do I need to kill Crota? Could go on with more examples.

Because each character was originally going to have his/her own starting story. That was pulled and we only see the exo starting story.

Well I believe that Destiny should of originally came with Dark Below and House of Wolves already active out of the box. The separated those pieces of the game and ripped the story to shreds. They even messed up and left Winters Run strike in when it's clearly a House of Wolves strike. Archon Priest took from prison of elders by the Fallen. That obviously goes with the house of wolves story. Don't get me wrong I love Destiny and it's my favorite game to this day but I do wish they wouldn't have jacked the games story up like they did. Maybe one day they will fix it and make the story (which is there) appear and make since.

Because story mode doesn't exist.

1 ReplyFinally, someone speaking out on this subject. I rarely see posts mentioning the lackluster story, I've even seen comments in other posts saying story isn't even important. The story is so bad compared to what halo was, halo had depth, I wish there things in destiny that were similar to terminals. Like you find something in the cosmodrome, and its a record of a person talking about their fight about the fallen, or the hive. I love the lore of this game, but the campaign should be a reflection of the lores depth to greater extent than what it currently is.

Maybe the ancestors of your awoken character were cast out of the reef long ago. The family of your character has been living among humans for so long that they have forgotten their roots.

Edited by Avatar_of_Might: 4/20/2015 6:17:10 PMSupposedly, at the "old Destiny" that we saw on the reveal years ago, they had 3 stories, one for each race. Then, when Activision made them remake the whole game a year before the beta (I read this story on Kotaku, if I'm not wrong), they scrapped several aspects of the game and rushed others half-thinked ones. The story we play through right now (ok, maybe not story, campaign) was apparently the EXO one. That's why your awoken doesn't know about its own race, because he is, in fact, an EXO.

I know that we are different from the Reef Awoken, but it never says so in game. I guess I'm just frustrated that they expect us to piece it all together... Seems lazy
-
I would think that your Awoken character was born on Earth, and their parents never mentioned the Reef because, possibly, they weren't born there either. I've thought about this as well, and that's what I've come to think.
-
2 RepliesBecause um screw logic and pay bungie.
-
You were supposed to be an awoken exiled from the Reef.
-
1 ReplyMaybe it's like Clayton Bigsby. Dave Chappelle skit
-
Remember those awesome 1st couple trailers of Destiny man I wish the game was as fun as that
-
2 RepliesIt's actually referred to in one of the grimoire cards. I read them all one night and was shocked it was there. They also reference the mystery of why all guardians are recovered from just outside of the Cosmodrome.
-
It's a game with space magic so logic isn't its strong point
-
Originally, each race had their own storyline. The one we have now is the Exo's, and a shell of what it was at that.
-
6 RepliesBungie didn't intend for the game to be played that way, though I've always asked myself the same question, my knowledgeable warlock has no idea who his own race is.
-
You forget that the awoken we control were dead they thought that they were another species like a human.
-
Because bungie said so.
-
It because during the collapse the awoken fled to the outer reaches of space on the brink of the darkness and your awoken was earth born which makes him unworthy in the awoken "kingdom" and is treated like shiz.
-
4 RepliesI agree there are plenty of gaps but in my mind that one is very minor and easy to explain. When guardians rise they have no memory of their past life. I'm more curious about why there were so many dead awoken in the cosmodrome in the first place.
-
3 RepliesYour Awoken character is native to Earth, and loyal to the City, and a follower to the Traveler. Not to mention, your Awoken character was only just brought back from the dead; he or she has probably been dead since the Collapse. To the people of The Reef, they would be like a stranger.
-
2 RepliesBecause all of our guardians have been dead for a long ass time.
-
4 RepliesWhen revived by dinkle bot a guardian remembers nothing
-
2 RepliesI don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain.
