I'm not a Bungie Employee, but since light level is based off the armor you wear, wouldn't it be easy for players to equip weaker armor to lower their light level, start the raid, then re-equip their normal gear to have a higher level once again? Rather than trying to put a maximum level on raids, I'd much rather like to see new difficulty levels added as the cap rises that could award players with more relevant gear and materials upon their completion. And ultimately, I'm not particularly bothered if players are able to complete the raid at a much higher level than what was originally planned. There's already a mechanic in the game that tries to ensure that enemies remain relatively menacing regardless of your level (a Level 2 dreg is just as deadly as a level 20 one to my level 32 Warlock), so as long as the encounter still requires team work to complete, I don't really see a problem.

I agree that what we really want is a level 33 or 34 VoG but this doesn't seems to be in bungie roadmap so far.. the trick you mention can be overcome by disallowing armour swap if the resulting level will be above the max when in a raid instance.. (this kind of constraint exist for exotics) the benefit of my proposal is that bungie will not have to worry about an overpowered 365 or 331 Fatebringer in the current raid.

  •
the trick you mention can be overcome by disallowing armour swap if the resulting level will be above the max when in a raid instance..
I don't know how Destiny is programmed, but I imagine that any type of logic like that doesn't currently exist in the game, so somebody would have to program it. It'd be a mild amount of work on somebody's part to implement a solution which we both can agree isn't entirely ideal, it'd be a Band-Aid that ignores the underlying problem.
the benefit of my proposal is that bungie will not have to worry about an overpowered 365 or 331 Fatebringer in the current raid.
Would it be overpowered though? I was under the impression that just as there's a point at which being a higher light level doesn't matter with regards to the amount of damage you take, there's also a point at which having a higher attack doesn't matter with regards to the amount of damage you deal. That's why I can't one-shot level 2 dregs with my 331 attack auto rifle.

i'm talking about attack level and my proposal only concerns light level anyway. My phrase about Fatebringer meant "Bungie doesn't need to release a 331 or 365 Fatebringer" because each raid will have its best set of weapons to play with (perks wise). if they release a VoG 33 or 34 with 331 Fatebringer , this weapon would be OP vs the current content.
