VERY IMPORTANT POINT: ever wanted to kill enemy Guardians with a sword?.......... Kill a sword bearer in this game type and get ready to have fun!
(edit: for open-world-top-tier weapon/ armor ideas, and the playlists, and a few other POSs, head here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/114329237/0/0)
Basically, eight guardians are sent to a random planet with no weapons, synthesis, or vehicles. They keep their armor. Free for all battle with a forty five minute time limit. //of course, we could also do twelve guardians couldn't we
Difficulties: lv20; lv24; lv28; lv30
Alliances: guardians can wave to each other to propose an alliance. If the other accepts, they'll be able to chat, but they'll still be able to kill each other as well.
Chests: guardians must scout for chests in order to find weapons and synth, and if they're lucky, sparrows. Chests spawn in random places and are more frequent. Better loot is dropped later in the game.
Ammo: ammo synth can be attained from chests, and is rarely found by killing PvE enemies. When you kill PvP enemies, they drop: if they had a primary: 2 mags of primary ammo. If they had a secondary: 1 mag of secondary ammo. If they had a heavy: 1 mag of heavy ammo. Ammo is all around scarce. For example, if you find an auto rifle in a chest, it will only have two/three or so clips. This applies to synths as well. This encourages you to avoid pve mobs and silently eliminate your real threats. ///note: Snipers are a bit rarer to drop than Shotguns and Fusions. They also can't carry as much ammo, and don't pick up as much due to their smaller clips. Of course, a good sniper is always nice in this gametype. But you risk being flanked when scoped in all the same.
Enemies: pve enemies are still present. Their starting level is represented by the selected difficulty. Every so often (every 5 minutes?) they gain one level- make sure you get that good gear faster than the enemies level up!
Rewards: the winner of the game keeps what he found. Those who placed first through third are awarded a weapon and armor of at least rare quality- it *could* be a vanguard, crucible, or even strike weapon/armor. Common to rare engrams are distributed *frequently* via standard rng- however, the better a player performed, the more likely it is that he will be awarded rare engrams. Up to three engrams can be rewarded per player. Players gain glimmer and vanguard rep based on difficulty, survival time, how many players they killed, and placement. The winner gets more glimmer for quicker wins and rep for quicker wins.
Events: events are still active in this game type. Completion grants the typical rewards, but also gives synthesis, glimmer, and bonus rep.
Note: when a player dies, he is sent to orbit, but his performance is logged into the results screen and he is still awarded stuff.
Note: supers only charge when you kill a guardian. Intellect determines how drastic the gain is. On average, four of your seven opponents must be killed by you to use a super- good intellect can lower this to three. //the only exception to this is Inverse Shadow- which rewards a puny amount of intellect per PvE kill.
Note: you want a sparrow, trust me.
This would be pretty fun I think- it gets more difficult as time goes on and players begin to die, enemies become more formidable over time, and it is simply an open world pvp experience that allows you to ally (7v1 for the win), or betray, other guardians! And, if you get a good weapon, you're in luck- just make SURE you don't die.
All winner's acquired items are sent to the postmaster at the end of the game. Because the winner gets so much more than even he who placed second, expect heavy, brutal competition. Over time this could turn into a "tournament of champions". What's great about this system is that it awards based on performance. As tedious as the game type is, its rewards are great if you can defeat it.
I'm thinking up to 3 friends could be in a game at once, and those in a party would be matched with other parties to help compensate for possible cheated play.
LETS BUMP THE HECK OUT OF THIS!

Bumping my bump

I like the general idea a lot...I think it is a bit overcomplicated but could simplified into the idea of survival mode. X amount of guardians go to X planet. No weapons or armor to start. Rumble style or teams. Find gear/weapons. First to take over the planet wins(or something along those lines).

Bump! Give this to me NOW!!!!

Custom games tbh

I didn't read the whole post, but I'm just bumping the title. I've thought of many different ways this would be awesome and I think it would give Bungie that extra step ahead. It's not a common thing in shooters and I think it would fit destiny's idea perfectly.
-
This would be so fun! It's like halo pvp in the way ordinances drop.
-
I like that you are thinking, that is a plus, but cripes no. There is no specific detail exactly that stands out to rub me the wrong way, it just feels way too complicated. 45 minutes? Do you know where my attention span will be? Not on this. It will be on, hey look, a public event and me without my damn weapons. Awesome! And to be honest, this is what I didn't like about Smite. You have to relevel yourself every friggin time just to be competitive to people who take it way too seriously. No thanks man.

This sounds so long winded haha no thanks!

*optional pvp". Very important piece to remember. Should be able to turn in off and on whenever you want. However, if you hit another guardian or take a bullet, the flag is on for five minutes before you can take it off.
-
TTK should have new public event where a guardian is taken. And if that person kills X number of guardians they get a reward. But if the guardians on patrol kill them first they get a reward.

Bump. Ez

Bump love it

This sounds awesome. The first annual Destiny Hunger Games

How about we take what we got in, like how Gun Gale Online worked for SAO :3 more players are added to the game world and we take what ever armor and weapons we currently have equipped so no other weapons other than the ones your currently using :3 and have at it :3

-
So you want griefers to control an area and effectively stop people from actually patrolling?
-
Most of it seems like a good idea.

This is how I think patrol should be in general
