I used to do normal runs first and then hard modes after but then I realized it's only worth doing Crota alone on normal for a chance at an exotic drop. That way when you do hard mode after you get a second chance for an exotic once you beat Crota. Deathsingers now counts as an exotic chest so no matter what difficulty you do it on first it's still only one chance.
