WOW so many vague or just plain incorrect answers. Let me slap you with some true knowledge and ACTUALLY give you the correct answer:
[b]Killing Crota on hard versus on normal gives you rewards from different loot tables[/b].
For example, Black Hammer will only drop on Normal.

I did know about the different loot tables though. Got Light of the Abyss early on and Black Hammer this past reset.
