The Devil's Lair. (Roleplay - Closed)

As Guardians you've been summoned by the Vanguard only to find that they've called you in for a suicide mission; infiltrate The Devil's Lair.
With HK-094 in charge of leading the way, each of you were given the night to prepare for whatever may come.
[b][u]Update #2.[/u][/b]
Landing in the Cosmodrome the group immediately faced Fallen resistance. As HK tried to guide them to the path towards the Lair, he realized another was missing.
Beckoning for the rest of the group to go ahead, HK began to track James down, only to find he went into the Hive tunnels.

[i]Gods dammit,[/i] she drew her Lapua, scoping in. The Fallen were within seventy-five yards from her, a distance that didn't require or need a spotter. Ember drew back the bolt, a shell flying out. She then pushed it back in, a round entering its chamber. Scoping back in, she targeted a Dreg who was trying to shoot at Raleigh. She pulled the trigger and a quiet [i]Tsst![/i] sounded. The .338 round impaled itself into the Dreg's skull. The Fallen soldier's head exploded in a shower of blood and juices.

3 RepliesShe looked at Raleigh, signing. "Well this has certainly turned into a mess, hasn't it? People are missing. The Fallen know we're here thanks to that imbecile of a Warlock. And I'm hurt. Great start, don't you think?"

HK scanned the horizon for James, finding nothing, [i]~Great..~[/i] he thought. He continued the search until he came across a large group of Fallen, skittering around the edges while cloaked HK found an expended rocket shell, "He must've fired this and moved on.." Taking in the surrounding area HK noticed the tunnel entrance a few hundred yards from where he stood, [i]~I guess that'd seem like shelter.~[/i] HK knew the hive were also in those tunnels, the directions he gave the rest of the team led them straight to the intersection of several of these things. Holding each cannon ready for anything, HK cloaked once more and made a break for the tunnels. [spoiler]Last post for me tonight.[/spoiler]

"Good. We need you alive." Raleigh maybe have sounded a bit snippy but she was concerned. She was always concerned when she was put on a team. She looked around for the others. [i]Where are they??[/i]

Edited by IXMMISmokey: 4/2/2015 3:09:34 AMJames held his side while asking his ghost where he was in comparison to the rest of the team " I doubt they even realize that I'm not with them" He rationalized that it was for the better, since the Fallen would also have a harder time noticing him, and he liked that thought. His ghost informed him that the tunnel he was in was a different tunnel from where the others were entering, but both tunnels would intersect further down the line. He wasn't going to let his guard down, for the Hive liked to call these tunnels home. "I guess it reminds them of home..... A nasty pit" He checked on his wound, and thankfully it wasn't too deep, but it would sting like hell for a while. He just walked on.

Ember stood, and put the sling of her sniper across her chest, the barrel pointing down. She slid down the hill, drawing her hand cannon. She ran towards where Sanguine and Raleigh were staying. Sanguine's arm was shot. [i]Probably a Wire Rifle shot, judging by the fact that there was no physical round inside the wound..[/i] Ember leaned above the cover. She drew her Lapua quickly, scoping in. It was close enough where she didn't need to have a spotter. [i]Tsst![/i] Ember fired against the open Vandal she had fired on earlier. The round impaled against the Vandal's shoulder. It tore off his arm. [i]Bang...[/i] Ember smiled.

And where's James?!~[/i] He noticed a vandal flopping around with one arm missing, he slightly chuckled and began to open fire on the group from the opposite direction. Between Ember and HK's concentrated fire, the group of Fallen were soon decimated. Opening a comm link to Ember's ghost HK relayed the directions he gave the others, "-Large train tunnel, the others should be waiting there.. I have to find James, I'll catch up soon."

"Just my shoulder and a little bit of sangre. I should be fine. Hopefully it won't mess with my aim too much. The bleeding should stop soon, I hope."

Raleigh ran as fast as she could, shoulder charging her way through a few dregs. She got nicked in the side by a shock dagger but made it there otherwise unharmed. She stopped beside Sanguine and glanced at her. "You alright?"

Ember checked if she had a round ready in her Lapua sniper, she did. "Ghost?" Ghost's voice replied to Ember. "Yes madam, which target?" "Vandal, behind the truck." "Madam, we have t-" "I know we have to get a round through a vehicle. Just spot it for me." Ember's reply clearly had a tad of anger to it. "Very well, madam." Ghost appeared above her shoulder."371 yards out. Wind two-quarter value. Push three right." Ember performed the said tasks,"Target locked." "Hold," Ghost's sharp command barked out,"Wait for Sanguine to move. Fire when ready." Ember looked at Ghost,"Hold on. Ghost summon my silencer." "Madam, the bullet won't penetr-" Ember cut Ghost off. "I'm aware, I am aiming for his arm." Ghost nodded, summoning the silencer. The silencer wrapped itself around the barrel of the gun. "370 yards out. Wind two-point-five quarter value. Push two right." Ghost looked at Ember. "Fire when ready." "Here we go.." [i]Tsst!"[/i] The round was muffled, the only person to hear it besides Ghost and Ember was HK. The bullet sped towards the Vandal's arm. It hit the arm with such a force, that it tore the Vandal's hand from the rest of its arm. [i]Whooo![/i] Ember drew back the bolt on her sniper, the shell of the bullet she just fired shooting out. She smiled, Ghost nodding in approval. [i]Awesome..[/i]

James couldn't get past them, so he got to a pile of rubble and settled in for a long firefight. He began wondering how the others were doing at the time He was cautious, only popping up to shoot one or two dregs that got too valiant, but he was pinned. His only escape would have to be a straight out sprint towards a tunnel system that he hoped led somewhere closer to the Lair. He started to regret purposely separating from the team. He leapt from his cover and bolted straight to the tunnels, but he took a direct hit to the side. Thankfully he made it and ran farther into the tunnels, and he began to treat his wound as best as he could.

Scarlet wasted no time, refusing to let HK's distraction go to waste. She made a run for it, planning on following the directions that were given to them. She got in mostly unharmed, except for a Vandal's sniper shot to her shoulder. Once inside, she waited for the others while trying to treat the wound as best she could. It didn't hurt all too much, but she knew it would later.

HK decided it was now or never, he nodded to the others before activating his cloak, "Get to that building-" pointing across the alley, "-continue through until you reach what looks like a huge train tunnel, I'll meet you there." With that he drew both cannons and cloaked, quickly reaching another safe location HK stepped around the corner firing; drawing attention from the group so they could make across the city streets.

Ghost scanned again,"Still three targets." Ember scanned the field with a naked eye, her eyes seeing any possible places of cover where the Fallen could be hiding behind. She placed her chin on the stock of the sniper, looking through the sights again. She could see the mohawk shaped "fur" of the Dregs behind a car. [i]That's one, where are the others?[/i] She spotted two limbs coming out from the side of an abandoned truck, a Vandal. It was both of the thing's right arm. Ember looked back at the place where the Dreg had been, it was still there. [i]Good, they think I don't see them,[/i] Ember scanned the field with her eyes through the scope of her sniper, she could not see anything else. The rest of enemy was not visible, and it was going to worry the crap out of Ember...

After exiting the building, James decided to do something incredibly stupid. He fired the rocket in the air, and when the missile blew up, it attracted every Fallen crew within a mile distance from him. He hoped that with all the Fallen exterior forces distracted with him, that the rest of the team would make it into the lair. He just sat with his back up against the wall of the building, waiting for the first enemies to show up.

"No one is going to be a bullet sponge. We move as a group. That is if HK agrees." She didn't really like having just one in charge. It should be group decisions.

"Cloak if you can. Other than that, we fight. I could sacrifice myself and be a bullet sponge so that you can get there if you want?" She shrugged. In this state of mind, she could care less of what happened to her.

1 ReplyDrawing both of his cannons HK nodded, agreeing with Raleigh, "We don't have much time. You-" he said pointing to Ember, "-we're gonna have a talk after this." He finished his sentence as he peaked around the corner, "There's maybe a dozen, any input? We gotta get into the door at the other side of the alley."

Raleigh followed behind the others, bringing up the rear. She didn't want anyone left behind. "We should move quickly to our destination."

James just watched as a captain and his crew walked over to the area the others were in to discover what the sound was. " I'm sure they can handle it, after all why make the noise in the first place" He snuck by the Fallen and made it closer to the coordinates, but there was a rundown building he wanted to explore first. It was a partially scavenged armory, with only a barely operational rocket launcher inside and a bit of ammo.

Sanguine followed HK, making a quiet sound of annoyance and whispering something about a disgrace to Warlocks and about how Hunters aren't the only ones that can be stealthy. "Now what?" She practically hissed it out. "So much for being unexpected."

HK spun around at the sound of her sniper, "What do you think you're doing?!" An obvious wave of anger and irritation flowed through him. "Cut a path straight through? Trying to alert every Fallen in comm radius of our location?!" Stepping further away as he turned back to her he continued, "The Vanguard said you were skilled, but I guess that doesn't mean smart!" HK continued to hurriedly jog towards a nearby building, expecting to fight what he anticipated to be more "than a few Fallen."

Raleigh rolled her eyes when the warlock started shooting. It was going to attract the entire house. She made sure her hand cannon was full and stuck close to the Hunter and other female Warlock.

James heard the sniper go off like a cannon, thankfully he was a bit farther away from the group " They're gonna attract the whole house if they keep that up, but hey to each their own" He asked K-11 if he had the coordinates of the proposed location of the Lair and proceeded towards it location, careful not to attract any Hive or Fallen attention
