Installing Destiny on PS4: Stuck on "Transferring Game Content"

I recently bought a hard copy of Destiny at GameStop. After putting the disc in and downloading all the necessary updates, I opened it to play it. Upon doing so, I was met with another screen, this one from the game itself and not a PS download screen, wherein the title reads "Installing Destiny". There were originally two items installing, but now there is only "Transferring Game Content". I have started and restarted this process several times, but the progress meter gets stuck, repeatedly, at 16% or 33%. I have left the game to continue its process for hours at a time, but it never makes any progress (once overnight, ~8 hours; once during the day ~10 hours). I have searched for answers, but found no help anywhere, only that there are many people having the same issue. I tried deleting everything and starting over, but to no avail. I would hate to have to return the game, but honestly, I seriously doubt that the game will be worth the trouble if I cannot get this issue resolved, soon. I recently switched to PS4 from a Nintendo Wii U, and so far I'm not impressed. This is pathetic.

  • Has anybody found a silution to this. I have purchased Destiny a few days ago and I installed the game, updated the game and now I am stuck at 3% transferring game content. I bought the game 3days ago expecting to be in serious Destiny mode by now but all I want to do is snap the disc at this stage.I have deleted the share factory theme,I have cleaned the disc, I made sure that everything was downloaded properly and still no joy. Please can somebody help me because there is no way I will be buying Destiny 2 if I cant getthis resolved for fear of the same delay repeating itself. Thanks

    • Could you check if the following is inatalled, and if it is uninstall by navigating to your Notifications > Download List and delete the Destiny SHAREfactory Theme from your list, and then launch Destiny.

      • Hey there, Are you on a wireless connection? You may need to connect on a wired link to ensure a steady install. Additionally, a router/modem powercycle and relaunch of Destiny may help refresh your connection.

        • I'm stuck in the same thing. The only thing I found in my notifications related to destiny( other than the update file) was a regular destiny theme. No share factory theme. I deleted it anyways, but it didn't work
