Buy exotic engrams from Xur and let them in your vault after DLC you have the chance for new exotic armor! ;)

Engrams are predetermined once bought or waiting for you at the postmaster. You will not have any new dlc items in the package if they are purchased before it's dropped. If you still want to try this. Wait until before launch after the dlc has been mostly downloaded to your account and then buy packages. Good luck.

Edited by Krausladen: 3/23/2015 8:29:23 PMIve bought them on my hunter and transferred them to my titan, legendaries too, and since RNG favors the character class heavily it is much more likely to be titan gear, which has been the case almost every time for me. Unless they are predetermined and have multiple variables (dependent on the characters class) then that would be the only way the predetermined claim would stand. I do think however that engrams bought before DLC will stay as an old game engram, and not contain any of the new DLC gear.

That last part is what I was talking about. The engrams won't be new dlc gear if bought before the dlc launches

dont do it. Save your coins, and buy all that gear AFTER the DLC. I dont think engrams bought before DLC will open to DLC gear after the release, pretty sure that part sticks once the new update is released.

Only engrams acquired after the update were fixed. The old ones had old code. Common knowledge. [spoiler]when engrams are dropped the item is already determined. It's not random at cryptarch.
