Didn't know upgrading exotic removes all progress
Decided to "upgrade" my invective shotgun. I should add; my formerly fully upgraded invective shotgun. Why on earth does it remove all your upgrades and reduce it to essentially a new weapon?? What's the point of that? I'm a grown man with responsibilities, I don't have time to re upgrade it all over again.
This game I swear was made by psychologists studying the effects of despair and existentialism on people.
Thanks destiny for yet again explaining nothing.

This has been a very much discussed issue since the DLC dropped. Have you been in a cave or something? How have you never heard of this until now?

If "it really isn't that bad, keep your chin up" is the way you reply to those calling you noob, then why make a post complaining about it? I think you're the one that needs to realize that it really isn't that bad. You now have an upgraded damage weapon, congrats. It's your own fault for not looking into what exactly happens. I'm sure you would have still done it if you knew, considering the damage increase. Plus, it does not take that long to upgrade an exotic weapon.

You can't really blame the game for this one mate. I know it sucks, but you should've looked in to stay a Xur upgrade is for prior to doing it. Sink a couple of days worth of bounties into it and you'll be laughing though.

There was a destiny patch note that said if you upgrade your weapon it will reset it. It sucks if you didnt know

Yea armour on the other hand is different there upgrade might have more intellect discipline or strength so then it would be worth it but not always

I have about a dozen of fully upgraded exotics and several hundreds of hours spent upgrading them. If next dlc makes them worthless, bye bye Destiny. No game is worth spending countless hours relevelling weapons multiple times over and over. No hard feelings. Had my fun. A hundred or so dollars well spent. Good job Bungie!!!

Plus 1 because of your edit and how you deal with assholes. If it's any consolation, for the next DLC, exotic progress will not be reset. Bungie has admitted it was a mistake.
