In Game Weapon-mod Store

A buddy of mine and I were talking about how some weapons of the same name can have different attributes depending on how you obtain them, or which random drop you get. Example Legendary Scout Rifle "Crypt Dweller SR1" obtained thru Dead Orbit Rifle Features: Mulligan: Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine Life support: Recovering from near death grants additional ammo and briefly increases reload speed. obtained thru drop/legendary engram Features: Explosive Rounds: Volatile payload explodes on impact, dealing a portion of the weapon's damage in an area. Third Eye : Radar stays active while aiming down this weapon's sights. Here is an example of the total possible attribute grid for above mentioned weapon http://db.destinytracker.com/inventory/item/2563304568 He then made the point that if Destiny had an in game mod-store to which you could take your "maxed out level gun" That a in game weapon modder would tweak your gun for a price. This price could be motes of light, strange coins, even glimmer, or even a combination of any of the above. Changing a scope for instance could cost 3 motes + 500 glimmer. We are not suggesting that you could put attributes on a gun that don't exist on that gun already, Such as the ammo regen feature on Icebreaker put onto Gjallarhorn would just be ridiculously OP and would set the game balance off. For that matter, you wouldn't even have to allow Exotics to be modded as they are all the same anyways. But if I could purchase "Crypt Dweller SR1" from Dead Orbit Level the Gun up, and then take it to a Mod-store use my motes of light (kind of in game useless except Exotic Engrams) And have him tweak the gun to my specifications, whether it was to match the dropped gun my friend got, or some other in game real possibility. The more attributes I spun the great the cost. Finally, the gun weapon progress could be reset after you spun the attributes, so you would have to re-level the gun. This would help limit the attribute spinning. We believe this would have multiple benefits for both player and Bungie. It would give a player something to work for, and feel as though they truly earned it, all while furthering the customization aspect of the game. This could also give players something to work on when they reach max level, and simply waiting for the next expansion. I know several people that have simply stopped playing destiny because they are maxed out level and already have multiple exotic weapons. It would not take away from natural gameplay as the guns or armor currently do exist in game already. It would give added value to Motes of Light and Strange coins which are being Horded and Vaulted by many people. This could simply be a way for Bungie to recapture those people losing interest in game, without having to add an actual expansion, by allowing the player to truly customize their experience. To reward players with hard work, instead of pissing them off with drops their friends get. This could also be the most politically sensitive answer to the in game question "Why can't I sell my guns to my friends" Maybe this mod-store could even go a little further, and accept unwanted Legendary & and Exotic weapons in exchange for Motes and Coins. Example: I have 3 Icebreakers (1 for each character I play with) , and I get a 4th Ice breaker on a drop from a Raid or Legendary Engram I have no need for Exotic Shards as I am leveled out currently, and have over 400 Unused Weapon Parts The Mod-store would buy my Icebreaker for 5 motes of light or Icebreaker (Exotic) = 2 motes + 1 Coin. Legendary Weapons could be sold for 2 Motes only Whatever it is sold for, could be termed "fair value" Almost like a pawn shop, easily tied into the story line, as maybe a different Agent of the Nine, maybe hinted at as Xur's Supplier. Again I am not getting a lot from it, but I have the option of getting something different than an un-needed Weapon Part, Shard, or Energy. Just Food for thought. If you agree with this post, and think it is a great Idea, please bump it to hopefully bring attention to Bungie Developers.
