Of course generalizing is wrong, not 100% of the people here suck, but as a person with more time to game than the average gamer, I spend a good bit of time on various game forums.
In very single other forum in which I participate, 99% gamers are willing to collaborate and help each other out... Or at the very least treat each other respectfully... But not here! Yes, of course there's going to be trolls everywhere, but here is just out of control.
There's not a single thread where at least 50% of the comments are unwarranted insults and bullying. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, and so should Bungie.
Seriously, what's the point of being dicks? Are your lives so miserable that your only recourse is to annoy others to feel slightly better about yourselves?
EDIT: In a game about working together you would expect a more friendly community. Even GTA, a game about murdering everyone and stealing everything has a better community.
EDIT 2: InfinitySerpent below brought up a very good point. This community is so bad that even DeeJ (our "community manager") doesn't even post here anymore aside from the updates. He went to Reddit for real answers and interaction with a real community.

I agree with you. But if you think this is bad, look at the League of Legends community. My goodness, that place is a hellhole.

Edited by xXflaw365lessXx: 3/7/2015 1:56:18 AMTbh bungie forums need more moderators to clean up the trolls and unnecessary player disrespect. The only time they step in is when someone posts a cheese video that they don't want people to see. Also the demographic for this game is 10 - 25. Not the most mature point in children / young adults lives.
-
Stupid posts get stupid responses... End of story... I am all for helping when a legitimate question is posed & always scroll for question posts so that I can help. I do however like to rail against idiotic behavior & call it out when I see it. Most on here are that way, you just must either ask dumb ques or view dumb ques

At least the trolls here aren't as bad as the five nights at freddy's fanboys

Maybe if those fat-assed Mods would do their -blam!-ing job, this forum wouldn't be the cess pool it has become. Seriously, if one of you useless pieces of shit are reading this (which I doubt you find time for, being too busy trolling #Offtopic yourselves) what the -blam!- do you do? I don't get paid to read through this drivel, but I see the same shit threads trending for days, just propelling the ceiling on what is "acceptable" behavior while you basement - dwelling dweebs reap the benefits of an uninvolved employer and take part in diminishing the value of communication with the customers.

Edited by mandible01: 3/6/2015 9:55:12 AMI'm thankful you made the point about generalization but i don't believe it's any worse here than in anywhere else on the internet or the world, Reasonable people tend to get drowned out by all the detritus introduced by those with a mouth which runs faster than their brain, it's the same scenario in your standard "(insert country here) IS FULL OF IDIOTS!!" routine. Give a fool the ability to speak unhindered and they'll likely abuse it.

Most people on destiny, at least what I see, are the most fanboy ass people I've ever seen ._. Or, my personal favorites, " you're bad at the game" my only logical response is " how? ._. The game damn near plays itself, only thing that actually takes somewhat skill is inferno, and VoG" I say VoG because I'm pretty sure it can't be cheesed. One last thing that I hate seeing are the " blajillion hours AND STILL NO GALLY!!!!" ._. Ever think to ask those people "hey, you've made-do without it for so long.... Why do you even care?"

You should see league of legends community

You ain't lyin'. I joined the Destiny Reddit about a week ago, and it's like an oasis in a nuclear wasteland.
-
100% correct. I started off really liking the forums as a way to get my Destiny fix while I'm away form my XBox. More and more though I see a Reddit thread on a subject and frequently notice the lack of abuse but proliferation of eloquent and well punctuated posts. It's like a breath of fresh air being able to read posts without having to decipher it first.
-
Agreed this community is just hyperbole and vitriol. It's also a terrible sample size to judge all of destiny gamers by.
-
Because Destiny is rated "T" rather than "M" so there are more obnoxious kids involved with Destiny.

I think it's because most if us hate bungie and feel lied to about their half ass game... it gets taken out on the forums

Do you get called a "scrub"? Is everyone mean to you because you are inexperienced? Are you clueless as to objectives in the raids, and the moment you ask for help you get scolded by the LFG teammates? Well I have you a solution here! I'm here looking for some incentive to keep playing this game, so I decided to look for an apprentice. If you are interested in having a very experienced player as a teammate consider sending me a friend request describing some of interest and desires about the game that I could help you obtain. Oh, I would also like to have a 16 year and older apprentice. Psn- ChappinDatAss

I'm sure everyone knows by the the "Ninjas" actually do jack shit (can't blame them, they don't get paid squat) and whenever you see a comment removed by these "ninjas" it's not the ninjas doing it, it's an automated response to certain keywords in the game. So people can troll all they like, as long as they don't say those nasty words in the wrong context.

The devs suck! First Vanguard guns was fantastic. Then Bungie changed them. At First you could farm Spinmetal or Reick Iron and sell them for crusible marks for people who hated PvP. Then Bungie change it. I have the Destiny Guidebook I used to use it for the armoury. So many archtypes are not in the game now the Destiny Guide book has become pointless now. I used to love the purple guns from Volt of Glass because they was fully automatic. Bungie released a new max gun Dammage making all purple Volt of glass guns unwanted. I can never interest people in getting these guns from Volt of Glass anymore. I was saving up to buy a Vanguard Helmet and before I bought it Bungie Changed all the Vanguard armours too. I wanted the Helmet with the two eyes in the face. Bungie keeps changing the game as one person put it "to remove our fun" by stoping us farm caves and map hiding spots buy puting in invisable walls. A lot of the ever changing is hurting some people. I know at lest two people who don't buy dlcs for games. They all say destiny was great until Bungie added dlc because they was made felt that my friends could not do what they loved because they didn't have the dlc. As for me all my vanguard armour is maxed out and my weapons all most maxed out as well. Guess what Bungie will change the game at some point and every god dam purple thing will need to be rebought because Bungie would of changed stats making my current gear weaker. I have done this Twice now and I am starting to feel frustrated and a feeling that all this work upgrading is bloody pointless. From now on I'm just going to play to enjoy the game. To hell with upgrading and to hell with buying new gear as Bungie will make it weaker in coming months. I'll get all my new stuff from purple engrams from now on. I am realy fedup with all this constant changing. Like Excotics we fall in love with one gun and in a few months its nerfed and some exotics have been nerfed twice now. The same story goes for Crota dlc everyone who is currently in love with Crota will devorce her once House of wolfs comes out. She will become poinless too. Destiny = change I for one am disapointed and hurt by it all. That's my Rant for today. Anyone else feel this way please share?[/quote]

maybe then its has something to do with the actual game? either the game cant keep nicer players invested or creates anti-social tendencies "what we have a player 2 levels under? ohhh god not more dead weight" the game rewards AFKers just as much as anyone who basically carries a team its harder to actually talk to someone on mic in destiny than it was in any halo game.....

Subtract the wall of text in the body portion and you got yourself a thread.

In my experience there are ppl that are very helpful. I've had ppl spend hours getting a bunch of noobs (myself included) through our first raid. These forums do get harsh at times, but this is mainly because people need to vent at this game. I was one of the naysayers for a while and couldn't stand when ppl got on here and whined, but this business about Xür being RNG has made a bold faced liar out of DeeJ. That even makes me mad.

You realize, you can't really be bullied in a forum populated by total strangers. You have this ability...hold on...I remember, Oh yeah. the ABILITY TO IGNORE WHAT RANDOM NOBODIES SAY TO YOU.

OP, take it all in. This is the picture of humanity in the bible. Truth hurts. We can all be nice, but deep down we're assholes. You know it's true. If anyone really knew what goes on in that head, boy...

It's a sad state of affairs, agreed. But let's not discount the fantastic groups and clans working towards a better community spirit. I've been lurking on b.net for years but only started contributing after Destiny's release. Take it from me, join a group and stay out of the general forum areas. The groups have likeminded genuine people, that are worth your time. The chances are that things will improve over time, Destiny is still very young in terms of its forum presence. Just like everywhere you work, everywhere you go, there are always unsavoury characters. But there are always means to route them. You can't convince waterfalls to fall up, it's futile.

Just like the game. Weird.
