The "Shift" of Destiny PvE to PvP

This game, while a fiscal success, has been identified by not only a large number of the player base but also industry peers as a dissappointment and the continued bleed out of players confirms that Bungie / Activision has no -blam!-ing clue how to make a PvE game nowadays... I dont know about anyone else, but i for one have seen a decisive shift from a game that was marketed as another epic Bungie PVE game to an Activision CoD type PVP franchise... They have continually destroyed the PvE aspect of weapons with their PvP tweaking, and honestly their PvP is found wanting... The "additions" to the PvE aspect of this game are sorry as hell and the fact that there are bugs that were identified 6-7 months ago still in the game / not fully fixed, only tend to confirm their lost interest in really supporting PvE... I fully expect Destiny to turn into the rinse repeat format of CoD, with PvP being the only reason to play it for about 5 hours, realize its space CoD and then never play it again. I havent played consistantly like i did the first 5 months for about the last 3 weeks... i got the limited edition of the game so i am locked into at least "trying" HoW... Honestly at this point I expect to be hugely dissappointed... Sucks because most who bought it, did so excited for the epic PvE story and gameplay... And please all you -blam!-tard fanboys and "they dont owe you anything" types... REALIZE... they marketed the game a certain way.. they delivered something different.. fine... but at least own up to the shit instead of brushing it off with bullshit posts and a PVP agenda shift.

IMO, they are focusing more on PvP lately (and in all the wrong ways, I might add) because that's where a lot of players are migrating to. Let's face it, the DB DLC was wafer thin in a game that already was half-starved for content. On top of that, their horrible design decisions regarding gear progression rendered a big portion of their content (namely, Vault of Glass) pointless. You could completely skip VoG and get better gear from the vendors. You simply can't afford to not keep old content relevant when you have so little new content. There's only so many times the hamster will run in that wheel before he says, "-blam!- this stupid shit, I'm going to take a nap." I personally only play PvP now the few times I'm bored enough to actually start up Destiny. Nearly everyone in my clan has stopped raiding, and they'll only log on occasionally to do a Nightfall or the Weekly Strike, or to join me in PvP. That's it. Sure, you'll see players returning for the HoW DLC because many of them already paid for it, but it will lose its appeal even more quickly than DB did if it's just more of the same pointless grinding on the same planets (especially if they reset Exotics again). What they may not realize however is that PvP is not the doorway to success for this game. There are far, far better FPS PvP games out there. I therefore agree with most of you that the majority of their focus should be on PvE. Yet the only way they are going to salvage PvE, and this game at this point, is if they dramatically increase our real estate and along with it our available activities, progress the story (in a meaningful, non-cryptic way), fix a lot more of the long-standing bugs, and stop hitting the reset button on weapons/armor so that players can actually have a more individualistic look and feel to them. The list goes on. Basically, they need to spend gobs of money to bring this game up to the level of expectations we all have for it, but I honestly don't see that happening at this point. Not if Activision shareholders have anything to say about it anyway. For me, at least, this game is going back to Gamestop the moment I have my shiny new Xbox One, and I won't be looking back.
