Believe in your allies... GET LOOT

Our team was a bit sloppy, we died a lot, had to boot the 12 year old, and find replacements before the Gatekeeper. There was a guy named Larry. He had a southern accent and died more than anyone else, but he claimed "I won't die again! I promise!" I didn't believe him.
I had considered leaving to find a more fit fireteam, but I put my faith in our friend Larry. I mean, he was trying hard. After many failed attempts, we defeated the Gatekeeper by skin of our teeth, just like earlier with the Templar. Atheon was brutal, but after ~10 failed runs we HAD to finish. Most of our team died, but Larry survived inside the time portal, and I was outside with about 15 supplicants. He killed the last oracle, but the portal wasn't open yet. I leaped onto the pillar with my trusty Icebreaker, sticky grenade, and not so trusty Atheon's Epilogue (NERFED). I killed about 4 supplicants as fast as possible, fired a last burst killing a 5th as the portal opened, and leapt behind cover, because I couldn't die yet! I warned him "the portal is open but covered in supplicants!" We both barely survived and made it to the center where we put up our bubbles. I realized I was the only DPS left, so I burned my sniper ammo perfectly, threw another sticky, unloaded my AR... but I realized I had one rocket left! We had one second left to live, so I leaped off, fired my rocket, and died a hero. Larry was the last survivor.
And that's when I got my Vex Mythoclast. Yay :D

Imagine if the amount you died and got -blam!-ed up by a raid/strike/crucible match was the weighting factor for RnG so it was Bungie's hidden incentive to want you to comeback even if you suck (cause you get nice hear at first) and then once you're running through everything like a pro RNG is less weighted so you have to grind longer to get those last pieces you want.

I believe in the all powerful deity RNGhad and he has graced me with better RNG than the false savior rngesus has ever given me. rngesus doesn't even deserve capitalization. 1 ReplyLast night doing Crota hard the team was 5 32s and 1 31. After a few wipes we like ok we got this. We proceed to the center took out the sword bearer and continued with making crota kneel. We got crota down to half hp by the time we had ogres so we flees into the ogre room and took them out as they spawned. Shortly after (once crota did his full rotation) we set back out to the center with the sword bearer right below us. We took him out and our hunter went to grab the sword but alas as the hunter picking it up the sword fell through the map. Great so we flees back into the room. Crota gets back to center and we seen the message we feared. Enrage is near. We took down the sword bearer and the hunter picked up the sword and got 5 hits in and crota enraged we fire our last round of rockets and the crota goes down thrall come from behind and kill 2 of us over soul is activating the screen goes black but the sword bearer gets his last hit on crota then the over soul kills us all. Shortly after we get rewards and I got the fang. 3 people got the word and one got crux

19 RepliesTo be honest, I still find it sad that some people struggle to beat Atheon. Whenever I join groups who are struggling to beat him, I almost always leave unless it's late on Saturday night where LFG for Atheon hard is empty. I remember doing VoG Hard when it was a big deal with 5 level 29s and 1 level 30 on only the second attempt. Now you have groups of 31s and 32s who can barely stay alive through one rotation.

awesome! you know I have had many groups I gave no chance to, including one today on lfg that just didn't seem a good fit. then we one and done crota on hard. sometimes its work sticking with a group and giving them a chance. sometimes its just good to stick by those guardians who need a solid guy holding it down, they may die on you but you will feel better when you win

Whooooooo!!!! That sounds like my first hard vog but I was "Larry". I just got the game in January and joined at the gatekeeper and was so confused. But after I died my first time a guy cussed me out. "You act like this is your first time lol" I said it is then they told me what to do and I went ham and we icebreakered a the on to shit.

1 ReplyVery nice, and the loot reflected the epicness of the experience Had an interesting raid last night. We went right into fighting Crota on hard and once we were in the game we realized something....We were ALL Warlocks. Not a single hunter or titan to be found and the fireteam leader didnt wanna kick anyone. So we figured lets give it a try. 1st attempt went well but the Ogres got our weakest member and the oversoul claimed us. After 45min of sticking through it and improvising through the glitches and everything we prevailed. And oh the rewards were glorious.....6 radiant materials for me, a fang for a couple others, and one lucky duck got the sole exotic.....No Land Beyond

5 RepliesWe were doing the vault normal difficulty (we were aroung 27 light level), still nobody of us had yet completed it. It was already 2 am and we were very tired, both from trying and the late hours. Our lowest level member kept insisting that he should leave the fireteam because he thought he wasn´t good enough for this, we said: No, you are from our clan, and most important, our friend, stay with us and keep trying" It was the fourth "relic assault" and atheon had like 4 pixels wide of health, but the time was about to run out. We stood in our places, punishing Atheon, but the worst happened, the shield vanished, two members died instantly, i was sent to the past (mars), and the lowest level (like 25 i dont remember exactly) remained outside. Almost all of us were like "its hopeless, we were so close in this one!". I grabbed the relic, trying to defend myself from the hobgoblins, but it was a lost cause. I died, and the screen began to flash red, from lost in the darkness of time. I just lowered my head, accepting my fate. Then everybody began to say: "WTF? I recieved loot?, Did he?...no he didn´t" Our last member alive turned around at the moment we were separated and shoot a rocket at Atheon. It was the last thing we needed to put Atheon out of his misery. He died too, But he is now remembered as "Atheon´s Bane". We recieved loot, The sparrow, the aspect of glass jumpship, shards, somebody got a gun, i think it was praedyths revenge. The loot wasn´t exceptional, but we were all happy, because it was the first time we did the Vault of Glass. Trust in your partners, and trust yourself.
