No, people are just impatient a do not respect the awesome randomness to this game. I've done almost every nightfall, Atheon, and Crota since the game came out with all my characters and have received every exotic (naturally) with the exception of Red Death. But the hope to get Red Death is what keeps me going. People just watch their friend get a Gjallarhorn and ten complain and complain and complain (primarily to Xùr). Just keep coming back every week and you will get the exotic you want
