I dont think it needs damage type to be effective. I think a thematical part about the weapon is that it faulters against the mad science of personal shields but in the instances when you use it right it does the job just as well as a SCI-FI sniper rifle might. If the gun got a bit better in PvE I dont think that would be a problem. In PvP it accomplishes a certain amount of its mission statement, but I wouldnt mind seeing it be a bit more potent, not to lower to TTK on it for instance, just to make it subtly better and creep up its value as a combo weapon. I dont know how flexible the games coding is to allow this to happen but my top picks (I wouldnt nessarily go with all of these but at least 2): 1) Remove the Lens flare. Thats a feature to balance long distance advantages from a snipers scope. Frankly if they land a headshot at a great distance with No Land Beyond they freaking deserve it. 2) Increase of the damage by around 10-15 percent in both PVP and PVE. Also perhaps increase the bonus damage given by the Master Perk triggering. While we are on stuff like that, Bungie needs to lift their game providing a visible indication of buffs or give a more detailed tooltip on what the actual increase is. The gun should never achieve the ability to one hit kill body shot a guardian off this. If I hit for 135 odd with body shot and that goes up to 160 with master triggered, then this gun turns into a pretty cool squad combo rifle in PVP I guess. Or it can be combined with say a Weapons of Light for the potenial for a OHK if you can trigger Master. Thats enough hoops to jump through that at least it gives it a powerful gimick you can call upon. 3) Increase reserve ammo size. 24 Rounds overall is plenty, MAYBE 30 in total. 4) Buff the Mulligan perk to make it actually worth while -OR- Return to Sender/Performance bonus instead. I know this is going a bit more thematic than practical here, but I kind of imagine taking this weapon to a nest or a position with a decent vantage point and holding off wave after wave of enemies with it. The desperation of the struggle and the battle itself would combo nicely with a perk that rewards back ammo to the user. 5) Improve accuracy while moving with this weapon. Make it a bit easier to duck in and out of cover and place accurate shots on targets in mid range.

 • I wish the time for racking the bolt could be a bit shorter (maybe tie it in with your agility stat if possible, to make people think more about their class ability setups), as well as I've noticed a peculiar issue with firing. If you press the fire button within a certain timeframe before racking the bolt is complete (it's been a while since I got the gun on day 2 of the DLC via crucible reward, but I want to say it's about a second or less before the racking is done), it fires upon finishing the animation. I may have just been inexperienced with the time delay on this new weapon gimmick, but I don't feel like there's an issue of this happening with any other weapon when trying to fire during reload animations. As far as ammo capacity goes, it feels perfect for PvP but quite underwhelming for PvE, and it almost seems like primary weapon ammo doesn't want to drop while I'm using it. And while purely aesthetic, I'd like to add one more thing to NLB; talk with Bethesda and see if they'll let you use the noise of the Lincoln Repeater firing in V.A.T.S. from Fallout 3 for all ADS shots with NLB. I would carry the gun on me at all times if I could get that feeling from it.

 • @FreeBooTs: I suppose, I am collecting the exotics right now though. Dire Skull of Ahamkara, Knucklehead Radar, Red Death and Necrochasm away from having them all btw. I kind of hope that all Exotics can find a place in the game, they probaly should for the sake of earning that status as: Exotic. I dont mind that NLB is kind of pants, its a handicap gun with a scant few advantages unique to itself. I, like the OP believe it has been handicapped too far and could be a bit better without becoming broken. Hell, it would have to go along way to dethroing the higher tiered guns in PVP and even being considered a viable PVE weapon outside of a patrol just for fun

 • Or just shard it and never use one again.

Bungie can handle this, because in the new weapons patch they increased the damage for shotguns by 100% for non guardian characters. So they could do it here.
3) Increase reserve ammo size. 24 Rounds overall is plenty, MAYBE 30 in total.
Yes this would be enough. But actually it's not enough.
4) Buff the Mulligan perk to make it actually worth while -OR- Return to Sender/Performance bonus instead.
I don't like this perk on this weapon, because you have to slow reload after each shot. Don't missunderstand, I'm not against the reload after each shot. :)
5) Improve accuracy while moving with this weapon. Make it a bit easier to duck in and out of cover and place accurate shots on targets in mid range.
This would be nice.
