#Community is not intended to be the kitchen junk drawer for all Destiny-related topics, including but not limited to weapons advice, LFG, suggestions for the game, and the millionth Xur post.

Do you really think that any of the random dopes on here will even think twice about where they post.
-
Are u doing this just to ban people lol
-
Banning? Mis-posting in forums is not a Code of Conduct violation. It's just poor forum stewardship.
-
-
Ah post what in what!!! Ninjas suck
-
Apparently, It's a place to talk about what it's not...
-
Think of it as a renovation. You can't renovate a house without clearing out the stuff that doesn't belong there. Once you clear out the mess, then you can start rebuilding.
-
You're renovating a house while I thought we were building a car. Community has an identity problem...at least that's what it seems like :-/ Lol
-
Hehehe do u know ninjitsu?

I feel like many times the forum is an escape from reality rather than a public post of intellectual conversation. So there's going to be a lot of filler that you have to sift through. You can't control anyone and tell them they can't post certain things, they'll just respond like trolls. It's just the nature of the beast and you either accept it or you dont.
-
Not necessarily. The old forums were rather well organized and much clearer as to what the rules and restrictions were. They weren't perfect, but certainly in much better condition. The forums aren't just an escape from reality, but a way for people to connect with others they wouldn't have met in real life. The people who use the forums, generally, want to be here and have conversations. The problem we are facing now is that lack of direction there used to be as well as when Destiny initially released, people didn't look at the context of the subforums (along with a combination of other problems the new site and app brought) and began posting where ever they wanted. It was too much for the mods to handle and the situation got out of hand and gave/gives other users the impression it's okay to post where ever they want. That is what these types of discussions are attempting to resolve: how to fix the site/app and what belongs where.
-
I can understand that there are many who adamant about these forums. I respect that. I just saying that there are many who aren't so serious in the forums about what they post and many who come on simply to bash others, bungie, or the game itself. Those people I simply filter/censor out. I appreciate those who come on the forums with open mindfulness and post well thought out ideas (within the correct forums).

But that is what the community is posting about?

I don't like ninjas

You mean trillionth, right?

Destiny is all Bungie has right now, Halo is a thing of the past. All the "pre-destiny" people complain the most about is what it used to be like on the forums. A new era is upon you and like I said Halo isn't relevant to Bungie anymore. There is a lot of complaining and trolls on the forums but not all "destiny" people are bad. You guys are doing the same thing you constantly complain about and that is complain. Ninja, mentor, or whatever you guys are just as much part of the problem constantly complaining about the "destiny" forums". And now you will respond with some rhetoric about agreeing to the terms and conditions or you'll say in your elitist "ninja" voice that I wouldn't know because I wasn't part of the "pre-destiny" sleepover or whatever. Look in the mirror and decide to either make the forums a better place or stay in your lane. People who paid for Destiny have just as much right to be on these forums and post whatever it is they want (as long it's respectful and tasteful) just as much as you. Microsoft owns Halo, you are going to have to come to grips with that and realize that Bungie and these forums will never be the same again and that's not a bad thing it's called evolving. Now go ahead and tell me all the reasons I'm wrong and my prove my point that you guys are elitists who are power hungry because of a title and instead of making the forums better you just turn you nose up at people.
-
Part of the problem are members accusing members who appreciate and try to foster a little forum topic organization and rules as being "elitist." It has nothing to do with "the right to post whatever they want." It's about simple, good forum stewardship. Who said anything about Halo? We're talking about Community.
-
Stop it! You know there are a ton of Halo posts or "Remember when this forum was great when Halo came out". And I don't care, if I don't like what people post I just scroll to the next topic. And to just title a thread "community" is very open ended and implies this thread is a melting pot to talk about whatever you want. Everything can be fit in a different thread. Off topic threads can go to the off topic section, destiny talk to the destiny section, complaints to the feedback section and so on and so forth. What's that leave for the community thread? Should we talk about personal lives? Off topic thread. Hell this discussion should be in the feedback thread. Talk all things Bungie.net you say? Casual gamers which make up most of the video game world don't know enough about Bungie or even care to fill up a thread.

Edited by Shurshacker: 2/27/2015 11:40:19 PMYou are new, so I'll cut you some slack. However, so many members have attempted to show you the ropes. I'm not sure what else we can say. I understand you're struggling with the idea of a Bungie fan community vs Destiny discussions and topics.
Stop it! You know there are a ton of Halo posts or "Remember when this forum was great when Halo came out". And I don't care, if I don't like what people post I just scroll to the next topic.
What I meant was in the context of this thread, we aren't discussing Halo, We're discussing #Community. Members now discuss Halo the game over in the #Gaming sub-forum which is sort of a catch-all for general video game discussions. And you should care. The community does and so do the moderators. There's a place for everything. I don't know about you, but my mom didn't let me play basketball in the house.
What's that leave for the community thread?
This has been explained. But... The bungie.net community was around long before Destiny the game. The #Community sub-forum is the meeting place for bungie.net members. Want to organize a local meetup of bungie.net members - that goes in #Community. Want to relive the glory days of a hilarious thread - that goes in #Community. Want to share your latest fan art or fanfic - #Community. The key differentiation, though, is if you want to talk about Xur or an exotic, do it in #Destiny. Why on earth wouldn't you?
Casual gamers which make up most of the video game world don't know enough about Bungie or even care to fill up a thread.
I think you're underestimating the reputation of Bungie in the gaming community, but for the sake of the discussion, let's say you're right. That's exactly why members are trying to help educate, redirect folks, and restore some order to the chaos. Many really do want to help and aren't trying to ruin new members' experience here.
And I don't care, if I don't like what people post I just scroll to the next topic.
I want to address this with a little more focus. First - you should care if you expect to enjoy your time here and get along with folks. And second - scrolling isn't the answer when the entirety of the first two pages of #Community are flooded with LFG, Hunter, and exotics posts. We learned that the hard way, which is why there's now a #Recruitment sub-forum for LFG. Someday you may understand, maybe you won't, but I hope you do. We want you to enjoy the community that's flourished here on bungie.net for over a decade, but you have to meet the community half way. And you certainly must try to care.

I liked this post and my computer overheated. No lie. It couldn't handle the burn.
