Desperately need tips for Thorn PVP 500 Void Kills
I hope some people can shed some light on the PVP part of this bounty for me, because right now it is incredibly frustrating to say the least, to the point I'm considering dropping the bounty for the 2nd time.
This is the 2nd time I've received the Thorn bounty on my Titan, and I gave it up the last time because the PVP part was impossible for me to even sniff at completing. Titan void grenades are garbage for the most part. The spike grenade I thought I could use like the lightning ones but it does no damage and people simply walk out of it. Suppression grenades are likewise pretty useless. The magnetic ones are a guaranteed void kill but the problem is it seems 60-75% of the time they don't stick or they only follow a target for a bit before missing completely.
I don't have a void primary and the only void secondary I have is Efrideet's Spear, which just isn't practical to use on most of the crucible maps for void kills. As of right now I'm stuck mainly having to wait on the heavy ammo to use my Against All Odds, which I can normally go on some nice streaks with to build up points. The problem is other wise I get killed 3-4 times in a row and all those points vanish. The heavy ammo just isn't up enough and when it is half the time one teammate grabs it before anyone else can. I just can't seem to maintain a good point balance and it seems like I'll never get this bounty done. I've tried getting it on my Warlock but it is never offered when the missives pop up. Just seems I'm destined to keep getting it on my titan.
Anyone that has done this on their titan how did you do it? Is there really no other way than to just get a void fusion and camp? I think that is just my biggest problem is no void fusion/shotgun and I have to try to basically quickscope with my sniper which hardly ever works out well.
Edit 1: Thanks for all the advice so far. I've managed to get about 36 points through 4 matches just trying to snipe and grab heavy when I can. Hoping I can grab a void fusion at some point.

Step 1: Buy a vendor shotgun Step 2: reroll for void Step 3: max speed and armor on your build You get 5 points for a kill, -2 for a death, so as long as you kill someone you profit. Bubble on capture points (play control) and just let them walk right in (shotgun in hand :)). Try to stay away from focus points (unless bubble is rdy) and use sideways to flank enemies. Keep your sticking grenade (the first, forgot the name) for when your enemy is close but out of shotgun range. You stick him, he kills you, but you still get 3 points. Watch youtube videos of shotgun play, and stay on it! Guns not that bad :P (even with incoming nerfs...)

1 ReplyYou must be the sneakiest of sneaky bitches. Crouch around corners with the sword breaker, and camp across the map with Praedyth's Revenge. Mercilessly kill anyone who passes into your sight. Do not be seen. Do not fight fair. Hide. Kill. Win. You will generate guardian tears and hate mail, but you will earn your prize. Which will in turn generate more tears and hate mail.

Sword breaker, go and do rumble it's fast, if you don't have sword breaker go and buy two to the morgue

Used a void sniper, just ran around in control sniping points. The grenades are actually decent.

Get in there while you can. When they nerf the special ammo drops, you'll be -blam!-ed.

Buy a void heavy from gunsmith if you absolutely have too. If you can, use atheon or word of crota. Just play defensively, preferably in an objective mode to minimize deaths. Run a void subclass if youve got it. Should knock it out pretty quick. Ive gotten three thorn bounties done that way.

Use a void shotgun and if you're a Titan run defender since its void damage. So either shotgun gun to the face or face palm would be a guaranteed void kill. You have a stick grenade too.

I did this bounty with my hunter on Saturday. I had a HMG, shotgun, and I would use a sniper rifle sometimes. I played control and just ran around using the shotgun most. Hated playing that way but had to be done. You can do it In about three hours. Good luck Guardian!!

When i did it the weapon i used was predyths revenge and every match i would camp at a safe distance and i eventually completed it

Doing the bounty on a warlock is much easier,the first time I got the bounty was on my hunter having no void primary was a nightmare so I deleted it,when I got the bounty again on my warlock I still had no primary void but I did use a void sniper in open maps and a shotgun in smaller ones i also used a void heavy,between those guns and the warlocks void abilities I finished the bounty in 2 days which isn't too bad as I'm not the best at pvp, hope that helps.

Run epilogue / void shotgun / corrective measure Run with other guardians. Kills come better in a team and death is far less likely. Camp bottlenecks.

Get a blue or green fusion rifle/ shot gun from gun smith or cryptarch Go all out noob

Use the sticky bases, I had to do this part with only a fusion rifle (and some heavy if i got it) just have patience, and enjoy crucible

I'm far from a good pvp player in destiny but if you have all void weapons (Atheons epilogue, word of Crota, swordbreaker, corrective messure, thruth are only some of them) it's pretty easy. It might take a while but you'll get there.

I side the entire bounty in an hour. Aetheons Epilogue was useless. I just used my truth and void Felwinters lie (shot package, hammer forged). It was too easy. I'll do thorn every time now for the free shard

Did it on my Titan, defender for the rare grenade kills. Do RoC strikes and get a rare void shotty or fusion rifle and of course a void heavy... Best of luck

I mainly used a void sniper and rocket launcher. I had a decent blue void fusion at the time also. The key is having patience. Don't go running into fights. Play control stay back and defend points. Most maps have quite a few good sniper positions, especially for control. Like some other people said if all else fails just make sure you get the kill. A non void kill is better than taking a death.
