Has there been any talk by anyone with actual decision making abilities about all the fallout over the removal of this feature or just what in the hell we are all supposed to do with the shit ton of materials we're sitting on?

Since, for the most part, that speculation has been very nonflattering, they probably would rather just hope the subject gets forgotten and dies. I personally think it is because, whether due to software limitations or choice*, Bungie would rather not give us options in this game. They always add something at the expense of removing something else. *and in other threads I have noted why they would have in this case chosen not to add both (force us to play crucible and to enforce the mark cap)

So, what are we to do with all the materials we are sitting on? I CAN delete them but I'd like to use them on something. I don't buy/hoard gear so I always have a lot of materials. I don't get enough good gear to use it all on either. Dude, I have a shit load of materials.

I try not to be a cry baby about it. There's still a lot I enjoy about this game. But holy shit, most of their fixes and tweaks seem to be geared to PvP. Which I understand that PvP seems to be suffering from a lot of bugs. But it seems like they are leaving PvE mostly as is with the exceptions of fixes for PvP that also affect PvE.
