So, Bungie once again misled us. As you can see from the video, hardlight took over a 6% nerf in PvE and depending on your muzzle up to a 9% effective nerf in PvP. Suros regime is looking at almost a 14% effective nerf across the board.
That's a hell of a lot more than 2.5%. The only rationalization I can see for this was that all your defenders would say both before and after that it was only 2.5%. Before I couldn't really argue. Now though, that number is just a flat out lie.
If you wanted to effectively flip pulse rifle and auto rifle damage, well you had the right to do so and you did. But could you at least be adult enough to be honest about the real numbers?
Edit: Abyss Defiant was doing 348 headshots to tier one enemies, and now it's 326 which is a 6.3% decrease. Anyone have numbers for Necrochasm?
I'm getting different reports that seem to show that the low impact weapons got slapped with a 7% nerf. Any actual numbers appreciated since we know Bungie won't bother.
Edit 2: For the sake of laziness, this is my thread for today's open house thing in 15 minutes.
Edit 3: Weapon damage in PvP
Thanks to Superbustamove for bringing this to my attention and exxtrooper for actually compiling the data. This is a spreadsheet of damage in PvP pre and post patch. Be warned that it's PvP so rounding errors can make nerfs seem bigger or smaller than they are. Nevertheless the average isn't 2.5%.
Edit 4: Superbustamove also provided the original reddit post he found the spreadsheet at. Again this is mostly a PvP thread, but the info is still way more complete than anything we have had before.

I don't see why they nerf anything. Everyone who complains that guns are op have the option to get the same guns. The grind is fed by the hope to get a certain item, if all weapons are pretty much even across the board it would take to fun out of finally getting the weapon you hoped for

Edited by Kone19ps: 3/8/2015 5:43:05 PM2.5% is the average. That still feels like purposeful misdirection though avoiding solid numbers in the Lrof ARs
-
Bungie said implicitly that the 2.5% damage reduction was an average across all auto rifles. They based their nerf according to the impact of the said auto rifle (the same goes for pulse rifles, an average increase based on impact rating). Suros got hit hard, up for anything, not so much, and necrochasm hardly at all. This was all explained in a news release prior to the patch, as well as the one accompanying the patch. If people would read these things, they would have known what was going on. That being said, I too am of the opinion that it is a little late in the cycle for such drastic changes, however it is their game and they can change it how they want.

Hey. You do know that damage value is based on your characters level and gun stats. Make sure while you conduct you uveitis research you keep your character dressed the same. If you use differnt armour through out the test it will be off.

Bump. The sad truth is bungie has lied to us from launch. The game as a whole isn't what they advertised and promoted and after that their nerfs and buffs are always misleading. So just get used to them -blam!-ing us over its not stoping.
-
Buff AR
-
I agree, I noticed my Suros is shit in pve and it used to wreck! Suros was my favorite gun and I did a lot of grinding to get it. Kind of bull crap when those of us put in hours of gameplay to get guns we want and then they turn around and nerf them and make them useless.
-
Bump. Bring back the power! Leeeeeroooooy Jeennnnkinsss!!!!

Buff AR!!!!

Buff AR

When you draw a picture in pencil then erase some stuff, then draw over it, then erase, then draw over.. The picture looks like crap when your done.. "Destiny"
-
Why did they nerf auto rifles because of pvp now they're useless in pve which is all i use
-
I totally agree
-
Imagine how awesome this game would be if bungie focused the same amount of time on developing a story for the game as it does catering to whiney -blam!-s crying for nerfs.
-
I support the nerf. AR's were way too good they just were. The previous nerf was so inconsequential no one even noticed it. So you might have to change up your play style a bit big deal. If you have been playing as much as most ppl average on these forums I think you and everyone will be able to adapt no problem.
-
The 2.5% is base damage, affected by impact, range, perks, etc. They did exactly what they said. High rof low impact not nerfed as much as the low rof high impact ar's.
-
So Suros only does 31 damage per headshot now right? That only makes you need one more bullet to kill in pvp
-
Dude you gotta get out of the house more often. Or get a job at bunjie or ubisoft for quality control seems like they are in need of your services
-
Destiny was supposed to be one of the greatest games ever but now all it seems to be as one of the most controlling games ever as soon as Bungie finds out you're playing a way that they don't find fit they changed the game so you have no choice but to play their way not only do they expect you to pay for their game but you're not allowed to play it at your leisure or the way you would like you have to be exactly the way they want you to be or else they're going to change the game on you
-
guys get it threw your heads Bungie only cares about the mindless pvp drones and money. they will never have respect for gamers. bungie sold us cut content as dlc=hint to greed.
-
Bungie: the biggest troll ever.

Bump for dev feedback later today

BUNGIE LIED.
-
The "2.5%" thing was a massive manipulation of wording. The base damage fell off 2.5%, but that doesn't include the range fall off which was quite severe. Bungie apparently wants to balance weapons so every weapons does the exact same amount of damage at every range, so all weapons are used evenly. That's really what it sounds like from their wording.
