The problem is that there are some who don't realize that a maxed 300 weapon vs a maxed 331 weapon will do the same exact damage against a level 30 enemy. In the case of oracles, the one with oracle disruptor is going to do more damage due to the perk. You have to look at it like this - the first 2 digits in the attack power is the level you will do the maximum possible damage with that weapon against before taking into account player/enemy level difference. Anything higher than that enemy's level will not yield more damage to it, it just means you're still able to deal the maximum possible weapon damage (which is based off impact for most weapons), hence why a (33)1 without oracle disruptor will not do more damage than a (30)0 with oracle disruptor in VoG. EDIT: After more testing with 300 vs 331 AP weapons with same impact, the difference in damage to normal level 30 enemies at same range is roughly around 200 damage. This is primary weapons. I did not test snipers, MG's, etc. The oracle disruptor perk provides 500 bonus damage so you'd be doing almost 300 more damage against oracles with a 300 AP weapon with perk over a 331 AP weapon without perk.

  • I always see people saying that stuff about the first two digits of a gun's attack but what about times where your gun goes from like 321 damage to 326, does that mean that upgrade literally did nothing for me?

  • Yeah you are wrong sorry man. Levels do Max out so: A level 30 will do less damage to a level 32 enemy, but a level 32 guardian will not do any extra damage to a 30 enemy. Attack Stats do not Max out: A 300 version of a gun and a 331 are tested, the 331 will always hit harder regardless of enemy level.

You just said what I said in your first paragraph, I don't see what the disagreement is. See where I said "before taking into account player/enemy level difference" - which is to say that will modify the damage if you are under their level obviously.

  • But attack stats do not max out. They change based on what the attack stat is that's what I was trying to say.

  • They do though, using on the oracles as in this posts example (which are level 30 enemies) a 331 is harder to kill them with than a 300 with disruptor. That's because they are doing the same damage without the disruptor perk, and then bonus damage for the 300 weapon with the perk applied. Take Vision of Confluence and Fang of Ir Yut (or any scout rifle with similar impact to VoC) and test them out.

Wrong. A maxed 331 The Chance hand cannon does 1700ish crits on Vex mobs. A 300 Fatebringer does 1500ish crits. Both have the same impact stats so the extra damage comes from that extra 14%~ damage the extra 31 attack provides.

  • I'm assuming you used non-explosive rounds on the fatebringer. If that's the case, exactly how much extra damage is oracle disruptor doing? On scout rifles, the difference between VoC and a 331 is noticeable against them. I'm not at home so I can't give you exact numbers at the moment. Did you test the 300 and 331 hand cannons on regular level 30 enemies other than oracles? Just curious.

  • I tried on regular Vex enemies, actually, not Oracles. But that holds true across all enemies. From level 23 to 32, a 331 weapon with the same stats, does more damage to an enemy.
