Kanye isn't an idiot. Sure he'll make an ass out of himself in the media, but that's just Kanye being Kanye. Listen to his music and you'll get the other side of him. He's creative and knows his shit when it comes to music.
Also, a lot of what he says does have meaning behind it but it gets lost in how he acts. Beck didn't deserve the award, but neither did Beyonce.

Uhhhhh beck is a musician who writes all of his own material who has had a profound impact on the music industry. Good voice, plays several instruments, and great lyrics. He might not have deserved the award for that specific album but he needed one badly.

So you take it away from soemone else who should have gotten it? I'm not saying Beck is a bad artist by any means. I respect him, but if he didn't have AOTY he shouldn't have gotten it

I don't think any of the other nominees deserved it more though. So yeah, I'm fine with him getting the award.

I'll give you that he can be creative when it comes to music. I think that most of his music is shit, but then again, concepts like "Gold Digger" have no appeal to me. However, being creative with music isn't a singular or unique talent, which is why there are a lot of musicians out there. A person's actions speak louder than their words, and most people who are smart, understand that. So you're saying that he's not an idiot, he just... acts like an idiot?

If gold digger is your only expossure to Kanye, than you're missing a lot. He isn't some lyrical genius or anything, but his production is amazing. That's where he shines. I don't agree with a lot of the stuff he's done, but I don't think of him any less because of it. Actually, I think he's a pretty cool person.
