Why Destiny doesn't suck

While this game is not the groundbreaking adventure we all hoped for, there are reasons why we are still here and not on the Destiny hate band wagon. What we did get is actually pretty solid. I won't go into the negatives here. There are huge lists of forums on that. I just wanted to highlight why I play Destiny and how I make it more fun for me and others. For me, I love the visuals. The world designs and textures are immersive, even while the story is not. It's fun to see all the weapons and armor in all their shiny glory. Even the design of common weapons can be cool. If you actually read the grimoire cards, the lore and back story for enemies and items in Destiny become more engaging. The world fills out a little more with each card you unlock. One shouldn't have to read these cards to get insight into the Destiny world, but at least we get them. Did anyone know that the hand cannon Thorn used to be owned by a legendary hero? It used to be called Rose, before he fell to the darkness and his body become inhabited by a darker being. He drew out his hand cannon to find it transformed into Thorn. The controls are tight, responsive, and button layout is pretty good. One can seamlessly blink, jump, and jet pack across the maps and make tricky plays against other players in PvP. With the PS4 share button, it can be great fun posting streaks or silly moments. Despite what people say about this and that weapon being OP, the character classes and weapon classes in themselves are somewhat balanced. We might complain about not having open voice chat (I want it too), but after sending messages to a bunch of random people I have made a solid group of friends that I can play with almost daily. After picking up online friends this game has a lot more life to it. What keeps you playing Destiny? Is it spreading word of the lore from card unlocks, spamming friend requests and trying to appease potential raid companions with your fabulous dancing at the tower, or OCD nature to unlock all that can be unlocked? Maybe it's the desire to see this game expand and develop into what we had all hoped from the beginning?
