I know people said it a lot, but I feel like this need some light. The Problem The Missions are in my Opinion, Boring. Not just in the Story, but in exploration Mode. Every mission I come across in each Planet, is seriously, a Copy-paste from each other Example Earth: Guardian shoot the fallen to clear a area, Kill a mini boss, kill Fallen to get items, Scout a area Moon: Guardian shoot the Hive to clear a area, Kill a mini boss, kill Hive to get items, Scout a area Venus: Guardian shoot the Hive (I mean Vex!) to clear a area, Kill a mini boss, kill Vex or Fallen to get items, Scout a area Mars: Guardian shoot the Cabel to clear a area, Kill a mini boss, kill Cabel or vex to get items, Scout a area All of them are all the same from each other expect they said it, in different words. Don't get me wrong, I love destiny, but seriously. Who design these missions? Solution Would it be cool, if we have different missions that are not the same for each planet? Also, how about we fix the ones we have now? My examples: Guardian, How about we cause some trouble? Lure a Vex battalion to a Cabel Base. Guardian, The Vex are trying to build more Portals, Stop them before they are functional! (Time limit) Guardian, One of our own have fallen. I want you to go to his body and take his ghost and bring it to the delivery zone Guardian, Deep inside fallen territory the fallen are working on a tank to use against us, how about we take it and use it against them? (Hijack the tank) Guardian, You like Explosions? Well here the thing, I want you to planet a bomb in one of the Hive's ''Breeding'' ground and blow it up, remember to run! Guardian, I think we pin-pointed a Chest near your location that carry supplies to use for the city, if there is a gun or a piece of armor in there, you can keep it. Guardian, Dead orbit has an idea you might like, find a Vex Minotaur and reprogram it against the Vex by using our Spike, in return, we give you grimmer: Deal? Guardian, The cryptarchs are curious on the rituals being carry out by the Hive wizards, I want you to go to one of there ritual grounds, Spy them, and stop them afterwards. (You get some bonus lore about them) Edited: More mission Ideas! Guardian, This is now or never, i think it time to put your ship to use. A Giant Fallen is about to land 5 Tanks in the area, and i want you to use your laser Pointer to aim at the engines of the ship (Like a missile attack, tho not sure it could happen in Destiny) Guardian, It seems that the the Caleb and The house of Wolves (Fallen) have reach to a agreement, I want you to go over there, and Kill both the Caleb and the Fallen ambassadors (There both inside a Fallen ship somewhere in old Russia) Credit goes to User ''Baymax'' for this mission idea, Nice Idea Mate! : ''Guardian, the Vex are mining too close to a magma vault. Let's say we blow up the wall and flood these tunnels with lava? Hope you brought your Sparrow, because you'll be riding that through these tunnels to escape in time!'' Idea: What if you fail a mission (Like failing to kill a Fallen Commander in a Public event) it have consequences (Like the fallen in old Russia become stronger?) The events give itself a reason on to WHY YOU SHOULD NOT FAIL GUARDIANS!! FAILURE IS NOT A OPTION IN THIS STATE WE ARE IN!!!! Ummmm, Sorry! I gotten little carried away :/ These are just a few I have in mind. I will Add more later on, but I'm curious to hear yours, and hopefully: Bungie take this into consideration

  • The game is boring. The enemy are boring. Well I do like the Cabal. But it's cockroach Ai. And nothing is interactive. It's just blah! Making a complicated mission in a blah environment is still blah.

    • Each and every mission consists of the following components except for 1. Go to waypoint, kill along the way Get to waypoint, deploy ghost or press button on objective Either a or b happens from here A) defend yourself from waves of enemies, you don't even need to worry about ghost B)go to next waypoint, killing enemies along the way At the end of a mission you either: A) deploy ghost B) kill bullet sponge enemy that is simply a bigger version of other enemies you have already fought That's it... Only one exception exists which is a slight variation of the above, you have to kill enemies but this time to collect items they drop... Patrol missions Kill certain enemies, kill all Or Kill certain enemies, or faction for items Or go to a point to kill a certain enemy which is just a differently named version of other enemies Or Go to a point, deploy ghost Or Go to a point admire the scenery Mission variety is severely lacking The only thing that adds any variety as far as I know is vault of glass mostly due to actual mechanics you have to watch out for as you fight. Not even any rescue, or convoy escort, working with ai guardians or civilians, rescuing civilians, taking enemies hostage, destroying targets like say a tower or building of some sort, no stealth missions, or traps to worry about, puzzles to solve, nothing.

    • Golf clapping. You've got the vision. Why or how bungie went years without somebody having the creativity to come up with what you did is beyond me. Bungie, pm this guy and offer him a job. Seriously. It'll be money better spent than however you're spending it now.

      • Bump and grind!! It's shameful these ideas haven't already been implemented. I've seen more creative missions on ps2 games.

      • +1 for better mission design in a single post, than what a multi million dollar company could throw together in a whole production pipeline. Great work! Someone at bungie should be ashamed.

      • A two part mission where guardians need to capture a small fallen ship to sneak past a no flyzone in orbit with the main goal capturing a item, physical item mind you. The next part of the mission the ship is found out and fallen interceptors start a chase. Some fallen board the ship in an attempt to recapture it before having to shoot the ship down. Before long the ghost chirps in claiming the interceptors were ordered to shoot the ship down now that it broke orbit, that you need to get to escape/drop pods. Making your way to the pods you strap in, first person mode, the pod dark almost like a tomb. Suddenly the pod lights up as a screen displays everything around the pod, allowing the player to see the fallen just break in before ejecting. Before getting control of the pod we see the interceptors strafe the ship blowing it up before breaking through the clouds. Then shockingly we get control of the reentry, allowing us to guide the pod for us to land where we want, with limited controls as you are falling. Imagine looking at your feet seeing the ground comming fast, suddenly you see a captain and nudge your way over slamming into him, getting xp for the kill. Sitting there you wait for your fire team, fallen surrounding you as you count to three. Hitting X the door blasts off killing more fallen for more xp before hopping out to run. Ghost chirps in saying he cant transmat you that they are blocked. The mission is now to run to the outskirts of the city. Upon arrival guardians from all around appear firing at the fallen turrets popping out of the ground allowing your fire team to slip through to safety.

      • Take a page from the Halo Scarab fights. Have there be giant transport ship that you have to vault to get to in mid air and take control of it.

      • Bungie should of made the loot cave a mission/event/open world area. Fireteams fight to get an area with a bunch caves as for spawn points the longer you stay and the more people that are there increases the enemy's level, types if enemies, and how many of them that spawn. At the same time longer stay and amount of enemy's players kill increase engram drop rates, increases engram rarity, upgrade materials drop chances. Players do this till they all get killed or choose to leave when things are to hard for them.

        • You got some cool ideas that pretty much destroy my argument for why the missions are what they are. Thanks for actually thinking of ideas instead of the usual "these are boring and they suck change them!"

        • Doing Bungie' work for them and not getting paid for it... Bungie approves. I would make threads like this but they will just get lost in the sea of others. Great ideas though, hope Bungie listens and starts amping up their generic missions.

        • You sir are a genius, every single idea you have is gold. I can't understand why Bungie had been so unimaginative with the missions in this game. I hope Bungie reads this, most of these ideas would not be that hard to implement. The hardest part would probably be getting the voice actors back in to read the new lines.

        • That is actually awesome. The missions are the most boring part of explore, honestly. There's no variety to them. Let's get some lore involved with these missions. Why am I surveying an old tank that is apparently vital to the continued survival of the Traveler? Or an old metal shelf with dented cans? Is this shit really important?

          • I refuse to do anymore strikes because I'm tired of Ghost taking 3 waves to open a godd....... Door. Its BORING! Ghost can digitize things for transport, teleport, but he has to slowly hack an ancient low tech door? Its poor design.
