Is anyone else hoping that we will someday be able to visit the Last City somehow? I had visions of walking through the city to find my favorite shady vendor, pushing my way past citizens in various states of existence, from poverty to wealth; experiencing the sense of desperation and hope displayed through the medium of architecture, the contrast of poorly constructed shacks surrounding the perimeter of the City with the skyscrapers of the densely populated center, of sound, hundreds of people talking, haggling, shouting, and other sounds which cities make, of citizens walking by, lounging around, talking with vendors, buying food, etc., of art, whether graffiti scrawled on the side of a shop, or statues and fountains adorning the governmental headquarters of the city. I had hopes of knowing that which I was protecting, of knowing those for whom I fought, of feeling that it was all for something and worth something. The tower really is an Ivory Tower, from which the city is seen only as an Idea. The Speaker tells of frightened children; who sees their fear? Who walks among them and smells the bitter tang of uncertainty and waiting, feels the snap of tension from the seething mass of humanity which depends solely upon you for their continued existence; and who extends their hand to quell their fear, to calm their hearts and show them that We are here, and We are fighting for them? I dearly wished to explore the city for that reason... After all, why did I become a Guardian?

Totally agree. Visiting different cities in massive games is part of the thrill. Please, Bungie, let us explore our own city, and make it glorious!
-
I want that which you just said. Seriously though I really hope that Bungie adds an expansion of visiting the last city at some point.
-
If only destiny was an MMO...
-
i know! i thought they said you could go into it when they first revealed destiny
-
Assassins Creed: Destiny?
-
This needs to happen. We need more immersion into this world that we are resurrected into.. we need more npc interactions and to be able to learn things that have happened. Not just, "hey glad you're awake, things have changed, now let's go."
-
Could not agree morewe need the option, I asked during the Google hangout event. But Deej was never asked the question by the moderator. This needs to be in the game and if not day 1 then first update/expansion pack.
-
Be able to explore and maybe buy a place would be cook show off armor and guns and maybe get extra storage?
-
Nice OP. It would be nice to experience the city. Nicer to have a character home there. I would love more though to experience these things with the Reef. Maybe (hopefully) we will get these experiences in some future instalement/expansion of the game. : )
-
I love that one guardian leaning against the wall looken at them arab girls like want som fuk?
-
One of my biggest disappointments about destiny, but the game still gonna kick arse.
-
Yeah, it's hard to care about defending a city of people you never see or interact with at all...
-
I'm sure we might get to see it at some point. To be honest though I'm glad we don't get it yet because I'd rather them focus on good playable content in line with the games focus than walking a city. Function before form.

Edited by Bee Error: 8/30/2014 11:37:27 AMThese concepts seem to breed speculation. It would be great to explore the city, maybe having backstreet dealers selling strange ingredients that can also be found on the other planets. Also a Cantina where you can drink shots and other beverages and have a band playing futuristic instruments, all Star Wars style.
-
Future defence of the city maybe? Imagine when the Darkness pushes the Guardians back... Defending the city will be a good time to visit there.
-
I would love to walk down the streets of the city. Adults would probably look in awe while keeping their distance. Kids would probably run up and dance circles around you before they run off presumably to tell their friends...
-
It's a guarantee we'll visit the City, we just don't know when. I wouldn't be surprised if DLC for the first game in the Destiny trilogy allowed us to visit the City.
-
You and me both, I would live to explore the city!
-
It would be a great way to express the magnitude of importance we are depending on how they go about it.
-
I was a bit sad in beta when I realized we would see the tower and not the city
-
Well you became a Guardian because Tyrion Dinklebot liked the look of your bones/mangled chassis lying in the ruins of a Russian superhighway. But I totally feel you on everything else :)
-
Personally I'm glad that the city wasn't added off the bat. If anything it's once gain that slow build of anticipation where we get to the tower, then speculation comes around about the city. I hope that the city is used though, and if it's Dlc or whatever in this upcoming destiny, then I hope it's for certain special events only. Like the iron banner, but different modes and more vendors that give extremely rare and expensive gear! They're all about that earning.
-
Walking through the city was something i thought of as obvious, i thiught the same with that we could walk through the ship landing area, too. It sucks that either are confirmed, because I thiught they already had been.
-
I really hope we will get to explore the last city, I mean we're watching guard over it in the tower, why can't bungie throw together some building models and make it happen?!
-
I would LOVE to walk through the Last City. I mean who wouldn't?!?!?!?!?

Edited by JessJames1014: 8/30/2014 6:31:00 PMI mean come on, we constantly are looking at the last city while were up in the tower. Bungie must have kicked around the idea of us exploring the last city. #deej #bungie #explorelastcity
