Half a league, half a league, Half a league downward, Into the Hellmouth Rode the Vanguard. "Forward, the Vanguard! Charge for the Ogres!" Into the Hellmouth rode the Vanguard, "Forward the Vanguard!" Against the mighty Hive horde, The greatest of victories scored, Though they caused our Earth to die, It is ours to make reply, No need to reason why, Its ours to do, theirs to die, Into Hellmouth Rode the Vanguard. Thralls to the right of them, Thralls to the left of them, Wizards in front of them, Howled and thundered, Stormed with claw and Void, Boldy, the Hive they destroyed, Into the jaws of Death, Into the Hellmouth Rode the Vanguard. Flashed all their Rifles bare, Flashed as they turned in air, Gunned down the Hive Knights there, Charging a horde, while All the Last City wondered Plunged in the Battle smoke Right through the horde they broke Thrall and Wizard Reeled from the Arc Blade stroke Shattered and Sundered, Then they rode back , All of the Vanguard. Thralls to the right of them, Thralls to the left of them, Wizards behind them Left broken and charred. No vile trace yet remained By the Earth their unclean souls were claimed. Bloody and Voidburn stained Came through the jaws of Death, Back from the Hellmouth, Each and every one of them, Came the Vanguard. When can their glory fade? Oh, the wild Strike they made!
