Dull Destinies...come on Bungie smh

Shaders... Seriously? Don't get me wrong, I liked the customization in the beta as much as the next person, and I'm sure the geniuses over at bungie slaved over making it so that all of our guardians felt unique... But tbh bungie, I don't think your customization options live up to what you guys promised us. If you want us to play the game for 10+ years, why spare anything. The shaders felt like a lazy job by the designers for me. Yes there are multiple pieces to our armor, but that shouldn't hinder us from fully customizing the color of them in detail ( At least to the extent of Halo 3, 4, or Reach ). You guys can learn a lesson or 2 from Warframe on the PS4 or even Mass Effect (In case you've never seen warframe's color customization) http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Colour_Picker_Extension Instead of purchasing preset color combinations (the shaders), you guys should make it so that we can purchase singular colors with glimmer from a wide array of vibrant to dull colors (like warframe). Then apply those colors to set portions of the armor (like mass effect) example Armor Color 1: Red Armor Color 2: Midnight Black Armor Accent Color: Dusk Orange Armor Pattern: 7 (patterns should be designed and specific to each class, like face paint in Skyrim. Not just like camo or zebra ) Special armors like the Iron Banner set would have set colors and patterns we couldn't customize of course, but uncommon and legendary armor should have these Scripts. That would blow our f***** minds and add an insane amount of individuality to our guardians. Why tf should FrothyFartSpit69 look like my replica because he swagger jacked my armor and shader in an instant. Like bungie seriously, you feed us this "THIS IS YOUR DESTINY" rhetoric but won't let me dress for the lead role. If I make a clan, I want us to be in a similar color scheme, but have everyone do different takes on the clan colors according to the members unique style ranging from color placement to shade and pattern. I mean I'm sure some of you can empathize, to me, this is my guardian's story, everyone else is just taking part. So let me wear the role on my chest. Bottom line Bungie... at least for the colors... we need more variables

  • lol its the Skyrim Paradox: -Spends 3 hours customizing character, spends 100+ hours in first person. Doesnt make sense to get so worked up over something that only really effects the 5 minutes youll occasionaly spend at Badass HQ.

All I can say is Bungie is lucky No Man's Sky isn't coming out in a month. Because I'd rather buy that than what I'm hearing about Destiny with only a few weeks left. One map per planet, deplorable communication, and so on and so on. It's pretty depressing from the initial 2013 GDC description to what's being heralded in after the beta on the final breath of the product's content. Well that's because Bungie is playing this down to the wire on their game launching. The double edged sword of the consumer imagination runs both ways. Some will say we haven't seen everything yet, while others will go this is your best? Really? The shaders are not very exciting granted. From what I saw on certain faction shaders being unlocked in the Alpha I found myself not really impressed. But I've also seen the 2014 GDC where they went into some detail on the color palettes that will be out there, and it's such darn mixed signal. Because Wow!!! Now granted Warframe has a excellent amount of colors to sort through, but they are for the most part locked behind a pay wall. So as great as they are it might as well be non existent for many players. One of the best color customizations I've seen was on Forza 4 with its decal economy and Bungie made me hopeful when they stated they were interested in that model. I don't know OP. All the games I want to play are basically coming out in 2015. If anything Destiny for all it's perceived misgivings just has to get me there if its at heart a really bad let down.

    • I kind of want to agree with you (despite your excessively negative attitude) but you have to think, there will probably be enough shaders to cover any color combination you would want. Plus, as someone said below, there will always be someone who wants to run around wearing pink, neon green, and magenta armor... I'd rather them focus on other customization such as beards and more features/markings as well as a place for you to change certain aspects of your appearance at will (à la the Barber shops in WoW).

      • Are you for real? Of all the issues with the game and you wasted an hour of your life on a rant about not enough customisation??? Seriously? Losing the will to live....

        • First off that customization would be good and bad. Good being you'll see really cool people. Bad being some idiots are going to color themselves like clowns and look plain stupid and ruin the feel. I really don't want to see people idiotically colored just to piss people of whenever i go to the tower. Second, no one has even seen the shaders and exactly how they customize your character. I don't know how you can even rant about it when there is zero info on exactly how they customize. Do they color each piece individually? Do they color your entire outfit? We don't even know how'll they look. I wouldn't get up in arms about it until there is specific footage of it

          • I hope they add better and more customisation in the full game either at launch or as a patch/update not long after launch

          • I like the idea, but you could have said it a little better.
