In reading yesterday's Mail Sack, I noticed that DeeJ implied there might be some perks or benefits in Destiny for having played Bungie's Halo.
With the rebuild of Bungie.net, we’ve sort of wiped that slate clean for you. Destiny (and the online experiences that will support it) will provide brand new opportunities for you to distinguish yourself as a rare and unique snowflake who kicks ass in a living world. The great feats you achieved in Halo may yet impact your legacy as a player of Bungie games. We still have a database with billions of rows of player data, and we’re not afraid to use it.
This quote made me laugh because it's pure doublespeak. I mean DeeJ's job is akin to being PressSec for POTUS and the Bungie Community is like the WH Press Corps, trying to cajole the slightest bit of information every Mail Sack and ravenously dissecting every word. DeeJ starts out by talking about a clean slate but finishes with we have your Halo stats and we might use them. Classically ambiguous!
First question this quote brings to mind is would any perks be exclusive only to Xbox users? It's easy to assume that since the only confirmed multiplayer service Halo and Destiny shared was XBL but since you can link multiple accounts to your Bungie.next account, this may not necessarily be the case. Personally, I don't care either way but what do you think?
Second, what do you think an appropriate reward would be for all your Halo feats? In Reach, it was icons on your multiplayer tag. However, with no lobbies to wait in, that's out. Special armor is one option but I think I would like to see something such as a space ship or a weapon. Who thinks Tigerman? Lol.
It's early and Bungie maybe considering different opinions, so now is definitely the time to voice your opinion.

A pet Moa.

What if the players that played Halo before, goes to the Playstation 3 or 4? I kinda think it's only for the Xbox players. I am one, but I am seriously considering the idea to go to Playstation 4.

I hope we get some cool armor to show our dedication . . . I said cool!

You'll probably have access to a custom nameplate or something, like in Reach.
-
Maybe an awesome flaming katana, like the one from Halo 3 but mixed with the flaming armor.
-
I speculate DLC content reserved for players with statistics of the previous installments of Halo. Check out our channel though we cover everything Destiny and like to receive good feedback on our analysis and etc. http://www.youtube.com/DestinyInvestors

I hope I get something for being a 5 Star General in Halo 3

RECONNNZZZZZZZZ
-
I would be okay with special weapons given to those who have played halo, but other than that I think it should be a new start
-
Hope so I've got good halo sates
-
Saying that it affects your Destiny experience is not what they were trying to get across.
-
They said specifically, many times before now, that Destiny is a COMPLETELY new universe. This universe has no ties to the old, so i would suspect that there would be minimal to no references or connections to older Bungie games, and not just halo.
-
I kinda like the sound of that, but Bungie stopped tracking Halo stats a long time ago, so they don't really have everything. And what about people who couldn't get xbox live before Bungie stopped tracking?
-
The perks might just be as simple as keeping the same control scheme and movement patterns that we know and love from halo; to allow players who have played halo to have a leg up on the games learning curve. However I have no ideas on what they do with: "We still have a database with billions of rows of player data, and we’re not afraid to use it."
-
I hope it's like the name plates from Reach yeah. Something insignificant but awesome.
-
I think it means that they will take into consideration their data from Halo when developing Destiny.
-
There will most likely be "gifts" for those who played Halo games and as long as your PSN account is linked you your B.net account (which presumably has your XBL account) then it doesn't matter what console you play Destiny on.

Probably not
