I'm Proud of All of You.

I know a few people have voiced some complaints here and there about the site changes, but in contrast to many complaints from years past, you all did it in a seemingly polite and calm manner. In fact, most of you even added to your complaints, "But this might just be me needing to get used to things..." On top of that, it seems that today being a particularly active day, that a lot of people are communicating and assisting one another in a pretty awesome and helpful manner, which is great mentality to carry, especially for when the influx of new Members start flooding in sometime in the future. For a moment prior to the update, I was somewhat concerned with how angry some of the responses might be, or that types of arguments that would take place, but everything seems pretty cool and calm around here. It actually feels like a "Community", more connected, and more interactive, and heck, maybe that's why people have a bit more of a positive mentality. Who knows? I'm just glad to be a part of it.

    • For the most part, the backlash is not as bad as I had anticipated. Considering all it took to redesign this from the ground-up and then migrate us (and our stuff) over, some users have been ungrateful. We could have had to create brand new accounts. All our stuff could have been left on the old site to rot. After starting a fresh account, we'd still get to tag along on our favorite game developers' nuts, but we'd be crying about having lost our things. "OMG, iTz FaceTwitBungeddit!!1!" There is no denying the influence of other popular social networks. I think that's a good thing for the most part; those networks became popular for a reason. It wasn't done to please the grizzled ancients (though we were kept in mind), it was done to facilitate an evolving online social experience that will be expected by future generations. This iteration may better serve the B.net Community that's yet to come. There will be a flood of new users after Destiny is released. I'm sure that's of greater concern to the developers than pleasing a few bitter old timers that fear change. I bet many of us will change our tunes after the first week. Those that have not, will likely change after the beta is over and the final version is live. That is, if they have the patience and optimism to stick it out. ~Bob

I have to echo this, Helveck. I'm really impressed with how this community has responded to a very radical change in the way we communicate. I'd like to offer my personal thanks to everyone who has provided us with feedback. Bungie is so very lucky to have a group of people who are passionate about the community that surrounds our games. I count myself very lucky to have the chance to work with you. This project is only just beginning. We're having conversations about what we're hearing from you. Thanks to some ambitious thinking on the part of our online team, it's never been easier for me to hear all of you. The first time I saw the new forum, I was shocked as well. The more we worked to ready it for beta, the harder it was for me to visit the old site. I'm glad to have you all here, so that we can see how it should truly perform. This new structure has some refinements planned for it, but already I'm seeing the potential for how we'll share ideas as a community.

        • I can't help but agree. This update seems very calm. All the rabble left with Halo?

        • I've been quite surprised as well. There has been the odd hate thread, but it has been fairly mature. I saw way more poorly constructed complaint/feedback threads back in the Halo Reach era. Good job Community.

        • Must admit I was a bit weirded out by the maturity of the threads giving constructive feedback about the new site. I was expecting screaming kids but I instead met grammar and punctuation.

        • I agree. Most people seem to be accepting the new setup and I believe everyone will come to accept it as time goes by. As we are currently in BETA I'm looking forward to seeing what else will be implemented/changed in the future.

        • I agree, everyone was very polite. Also; I'd like to retract most of my previous complaints. I've gotten used to the current system and began getting familiar with the hash tag system.

              • The tag system is what is taking me the longest to get used to. Everything else I'm fine with, in that it already can be built upon; and that it's in Beta proves what I just said. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next week or so.
