Small problems with Bungie.next

So with everyone complaining about or praising the big features, I thought I'd write up a list of the tiny problems that I haven't heard talked about much. Obviously this isn't me saying that we should be in a refining stage - on the contrary, there are a lot of major problems that people on the site have been echoing repeatedly, some of which I agree with - but simply a result of me being a perfectionist. - The trending hashtags are entirely useless right now. I really don't see the point of having the first seven hashtags in the most recently replied to threads (or most popular if you're sorting that way). It's entirely redundant as we can see them all simply by glancing at the top two or three threads. - The activity page serves little purpose. In its current form, it shows the three latest threads created with the tags you follow, along with the three latest public threads made in groups you're in, and finally shows what you're followed users are doing (however, this is mixed in with everything else on the "all activity" tab). My suggestion is to make a separate "followed user activity" tab, and perhaps add on to the number of topics displayed made with certain tags. It's entirely useless to have an entire page showing the last three threads created with the tag #flood, for instance. - The ability to save threads and the saved threads themselves need to return. A lot of us really care about this feature and completely emptying pages of threads important to users without any kind of warning would be a huge dick move on the part of Bungie. - The notification and message system is still very laggy. - On the groups tab, sorting by popularity seems to mean sorting by number-of-followers-gained-since-the-update. While this is certainly beneficial to me personally, it's objectively a silly way to sort "popular" groups. There are multiple groups on the all-time/popularity page that aren't even posted in anymore because their communities have gone offsite. This is simply a waste of a feature that could be used to point new users towards thriving private communities. Obviously this is a search feature, but the way popularity is sorted is pointless. - Starting related topics within groups seems to automatically make that related topic a public thread. I'm not sure if this is a bug that has been fixed, but it's one I noticed a couple of days ago. I've been logging this stuff in my head so forgive me if mistakes are made. - Something must have broken when the webteam was applying the latest fixes earlier today because ever since I've been on, the number of pending members in my queue has continuously rose and will not go down whether I reject or accept user in question. Originally I assumed that this was a result of me having muted a user that was trying to join my group, but upon investigation, this turned out not to be the case. This isn't a bug that existed earlier than today. - Also within groups, a three minute ban is a waste of space. I have no idea why that's an option. Reiterating that moderator roles need to come back along with the ability to lock threads and ban users from the forum. - Despite my draconian style of leadership, I completely disagree with having private group members that are banned completely unable to see all threads in the group. Seems like something that would lead to people not bothering to log back in again. At least give the admin or moderator an option of choosing whether the user can view threads or not. - Reiterating the need for group history. Currently, group admins have no way of seeing who it was that left their group. This feature is much more important than most would realize. - Reiterating that the current location of pinned threads is stupid. Most group members will agree with me - there are a lot of things that we'd all like to have easier access to. Putting them on the home page is just silly, and hopefully this was a temporary fix. - A follower-but-not-member page for groups would be nice. On the same note, it seems as though if you're already a member of a group and you for some reason unfollowed it, there is no way to refollow the group without leaving and rejoining (and I'm not even sure if that fixes the problem.) - The ability to put links in group descriptions would be extremely useful. - A permanent, auto-reject feature for groups would be as well. There are users that group admins just simply get tired of rejecting. Just a suggestion off the top of my head - automatically reject every member from the group founder's mute list. Like I said at the start, there are a lot of major problems that need fixing, but I just thought some of the smaller issues needed a thread of their own. Remind me of what I missed.

One minor annoyance I've been dealing with is constantly having to log in. On the old site this would be done for me automatically, but now I have to log myself back in multiple times a day, including every time I switch between my phone and my laptop. Also, when I log in using my facebook account rather than my microsoft one, it takes me back to the main page instead of whatever page I was on. Obviously these aren't a huge deal, but I thought it was worth mentioning. EDIT: Oh, also, when I click the name of a group in the banner, it takes me back to the group's main page, rather than the forum as it used to. I realize this is likely on purpose, but it's just inconvenient for me as that's just my habitual way of getting out of a thread back to the group forum.

Yeah, I'd really like to see saved threads come back, a long with all the threads I had saved. And the post order needs to return to being chronological, along with threads having pages again.

        • Some good feedback here (mixed with some emotional subjectivity). Nevertheless, I shared your highlights with the team. Thank you.

          • There does not seem to be a way to unfollw a tag that is not popular. I clicked follow accidentally on a joke tag, and now I'm stuck with it.

            • not sure if this is a problem, but why is bungie.net suddenly rated by the ESRB?!

            • Other bugs: On your "recent activity" screen, clicking on the arrow next to a listed activity will take you to a random user, not to that activity (as one would think). My arrows are currently taking me to a user called "PleaseTaseMeBro", but yesterday it was someone different. The same was true for members on the pending user list (at least it was last time I checked) - clicking their user icon instead of their name would take you to a completely different user. No idea if this has been fixed yet.

            • Taken from another thread I just posted it in:
Just to let you know there is a glitch in groups. It says that the current administrator was the founder, which isn't always necessarily the case. This has made me founder of at least two groups which I know for a fact I didn't found, and I was good friends with the people who did. I want to respect their memory and not get credit for something I didn't do, so this might want to be looked into.
• I think for right now we all can agree with all of these. I mean, when I logged in for the first time I had a ID name of an account I've never heard of. So hopefully the fixes start flowing in at some point. We just have to put our trust into the Bungie team for now. Extra: Not so sure, but this whole website is just lagging as hell... Yet it's probably just my tablet. -_-

            • I can agree with this. Group functionality is certainly something that requires attention. On tagging, I feel there could be some sense in having a public/private tag system - public tags being tags as they are now, they trend and so on, while private tags would be user-specific tags that would not trend and would only be publicly visible if the user wanted. Private tags could also be used to tag all threads, not just ones you've created. The use in this would be that people could effectively add greater depth to their saved threads - they could tag a thread as "funny" then go to their profile, click the "funny" tag and see all the posts they have personally tagged as "funny". Kind of like how on last.fm you can tag albums with the "albums I own" tag and people can, through your profile, click that tag and see all the albums you've tagged with that. It's not a big deal, but it's additions like this that would make the tag system was more useful.
