• -Only affects warzone and cosmetics -Supports free content updates Most microtransactions don't cause problems. People just like to think it ruins games, which is not at all true.
inb4 the comments
Who in their right mind would support micro transactions in any game let alone Halo? If you can earn the same packs that can be bought with real world currency just by normal play of the game, then really even an idiot couldn't disagree with that principle. However, when it comes to only obtainable items using real world currency, then a line has to be drawn.
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/6e35355aecdf4fd0acdaee3cc4156fd4/topics/the-death-of-halo-5-is-nigh/7e57cb22-25fb-47bc-bfe3-9e6ef508344a/posts
Personally in AAA games I believe paid micro transactions are a the cancer of gaming, sadly though people buy them according to stats and it's their fault they still appear in AAA games, as well as the greedy developers/publishers. However if people do what you claim they are doing they are just hypocrites. Personally I think Micro Transactions and those that buy them are detriment to gaming, those that think any of that money will go into the development of the game are just delusional.

    • We know that the money goes to the Halo Championship Series. The micros also only affect Warzone.

    • Because at first it was a maximum of less than $5 for the most expensive MTA. And at first you were more likely to just pick up cosmetic items or a few power toys for the noncompetitive 'Warzone' game mode. And the everything changed when the management went and made yet another bad decision. Mind you, Micro Transactions are not inherently bad for a game, and if done right are fun to buy and don't do anything to ruin the game for yourself or others. Problem is that just about every company running MTAs as of late have proven to be greedy scrouges who only care about your wallet.

Because you don't need to spend money. It's optional rather than Pay2win or Pay2Play. Same thing with Warframe. Optional.
Though it's still a disgrace. Dragon Age:I, Halo 5, Tomb Raider even!
• It's pretty fairly done in Halo 5, IMO. They're using the money generated from them to avoid making paid DLC packs that would divide the player base into people that "Have the maps" or don't. I've never spent a dime more than the $60 price tag at launch for the game, and I play quite a bit of Warzone, but I don't feel like I'm at a heavy disadvantage. That's just anecdotal because some people have played Warzone games where the other teams spawn in sixty three ONI Scorpions or always seem to have Nornfang in their back pocket. That sort of unbalance can happen, but there is always a set of playlists where none of that overpowered garbage even exists, which is good, I think.

      • Halo 5 microtransactions aren't bad. Map packs right out of the gate are bad. AND we are being supplemented with monthly content drops. H5 microtransactions consist of power weapons that you need to be worthy to access in-game. You can't just buy a Nornfang and immediately spawn one at the beginning of the match. You need to earn your way towards it. Plus, the packs are random. You can buy a whole bunch of gold packs right at the start of the game, but you will get crap because you didn't buy bronze and silver first. Honestly, it's a great system. The microtransactions certainly weren't necessary, but they helped a lot. They paid for the monthly content drops and the Halo championships (which, admittedly, only the contestants care about).

      • I don't see any support for halo in regards toward micro transactions. If anything its what holding the game back because it provides the incentive of spoon feeding content into the game to some degree.

      • I don't care for MTs. I hardly touch warzone. Not because I feel like the people playing payed to win against the randoms I was grouped with or the other way around. Simply because the basis of why halo has been so good with it's sandbox has always revolved around weapons on the map. Warzone starts out fun. Basic weapon loadouts, and players progressivley gain req points for their req cards. It then turns into an all out mayhem. Some love it, some don't. I don't. Another reason why btb is good is because vehicles are spawn regulated. Btb is so much better than warzone for my taste. So idk. It's just a little too messy. I got decent req cards too. Didn't pay for them. In the beginning I had that warzone bundle thing. That shit gave me garbage items. Best things I got were some armor and helmets. I got better stuff just playing btb and arena and buying silver and gold packs. I do play warzone now and then though. It's got it's charms sometimes. MTs really don't influence my judgement at all on it though. MTs are fine as long as you don't get items you spawn with at the beginning or exclusively powerful weapons only available through purchase. Besides Free maps and shit. I mean you'd have to be an idiot to prefer buying map packs because you felt like optional MTs are worse than paywalled content.

While I don't outright support them, they don't really affect me because I don't play warzone. Though I do wish they would of gone with the Halo reach system of buying armor.

      • Nobody truly supports their existence. However halo 5 is one of the cases where the effect overall is minimal and it is tolerable. It they made the core gametypes pay to win, then people would complain a lot more. But since it's only in 1 game mode that most "hardcore" players do not touch, it's effect is minimal.

      • I personally hate it. I hate the rarity factor and that there is no other way to unlock it without random luck. This is with cosmetics that is. The weapons and vehicles seem fine. Favyn made a fantastic video on what I'm talking about, it's what I've thought since halo 5 came out.

            • Microtransactions can be tolerable if they are implemented well and don't require being purchased just to gain decent ground in a game.
