Bungie's current hybrid system

Hello everyone, My name is Vile and I have been playing destiny for a very long time now. Both PvP and PvE. http://wastedondestiny.com/xbox/non3%20so%20vil3 I have climbed to the top 1% of this game and have also made alternate accounts to test my theories on the subject matter at hand. Enough about me lets dive in. As everyone is completely aware by now Bungie has taken it upon themselves to implement a skill based matchmaking system (SBMM). There has been numerous threads and discussions regarding this. I will link just one that I found in two minutes. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/191169947/0/0 Now all of my following statements are going to be my opinions and hopefully it opens up some perspective to both higher skilled players and lower skilled players. Where to start? *Sigh. One thing that Bungie really failed to do with this game which all of us I think can agree on is custom games. Pretty sure that isn't going to happen either so we can move past that. Now some questions to you the reader as we discuss this. Why do you play PvP? Do you like to better yourself at shooters? do you want to always play the people that are the same skill level as you? Majority of people like to get better at the game they are playing and to prove that why do you level? why do you raid? to progress right? same can be applied to crucible. when you play someone that absolutely destroys you, you learn from it. I have found that the majority of hate primarily comes from the gun being used first than the player. Ex. Thorn (you were all thinking it) That is a whole other topic of discussion. One of the biggest problems with SBMM is that it tries to average out combat rating, ELO, K/D, whatever you want to call it. Let's just use ELO for arguments sake. Some one with a ELO of 2000 (pretty high) is matched against 3 players with ELO's of 1000. In order for this to be a balanced match in a mathematical since the player with 2000 ELO will need to have 2 players with an ELO of 500 on thier team. Now on paper this would indicate a "fair match" but in reality the two people with an ELO of 500 are essentially chickens with their heads cut off. Here is a sample match of what I am talking about. https://account.xbox.com/en-us/screenshot/cb92a73f-2eb0-40dc-9116-77bf27a9b2a6?gamerTag=NON3%20SO%20VIL3&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 Now in order for me to win that game I had to try pretty hard. I would hope that the two team mates that carried would of learned something from that game but they probably didn't and they will probably never play against me or with me again, which in of itself is a shame. They can't get better constantly playing the same bad kids over and over and over. This results in a stale match made check mate it you will. top 1% player will never only play top 1% players ever, unless its a purposely made match via classic 3v3's / 6v6's. This is our current variant of custom lobbies. Anyway I had a couple of theories as to combat Bungie's broken system. Theory 1: Delete my characters and try crucible again. The result was I was still getting matched against the same people I did before I deleted the characters, Sweaty kids. Which goes to show that all of your game history and "skill" are saved permanently on the account. Theory 2: Create a new account and try crucible. This appeared to be the only way for me to have fun again in crucible. here is a sample pic of the very first game I played. Level 4 striker titan. https://account.xbox.com/en-us/screenshot/2d544557-dca7-4985-818b-049fe59329f1?gamertag=None%20So%20ViIe&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 I think I used a spark of light so I was probably level 25. I know that this has been a long read but I hope that Bungie will one day fix this nightmare that is a pathetic attempt to bring gun balance to the game in a different way. It feels as if they are trying to separate gun usage via some sort of SBMM i.e. Thorn, Felwinters, matador etc. Thanks for reading and let me know your opinions as well. Sorry for shitty edits and grammar. Peace! Edit 1: Wow over 300 votes!? I didn't expect that many votes. Keep it up VILE
