I can't stand it. I am genuinely on the edge with Destiny. I thought the Crimson Days thing looked like a fun distraction from the drought of updates. I knew Crimson Doubles would be a PvP event with no matchmaking, however I thought there might be a sliver of something that I could do as a player that does not have a ready Fireteam on stand by. I was wrong. The entire Crimson Days event is completely and utterly pointless unless you have someone that can jump on with you. Now I know what you might be saying, just use LFG or come on this site and you'll be sure to find someone. I respond with that shouldn't be the answer. I have a few people that I play with online, however our timing rarely matches up. LFG is simply not a great answer if you are a single casual playing trying to meet up and play a couple of games before heading off to work or school. I spend all weekend on LFG sites trying to find someone to run the challenge with and hardly got a reply. I did manage to get in with one group that was doing the Raid on normal mode, but even finding those guys took an hour or so. PvP is even worse. I'm not amazing at PvP, but I do enjoy Iron Banner and playing with a friend that happens to be online at the same time as me. However trying to meet up with some random person online doesn't work out so well when you openly admit that you are pretty casual about you gameplay. The worst thing about it all is that its pointless. It is a thing that should not even be a problem. Can one person name a reason Crimson Doubles should not have a matchmaking option? I mean, if you are someone that plays with a fireteam on a normal basis, then chances are you were already going to bust into Crimson Doubles with that very Fireteam. Regardless of matchmaking options. If you, as a fireteam, were matched up against two Guardians that had used matchmaking to meet up, then good on you! If you are communicating and they are not then it should be an easy win for you. There is NO reason the option shouldn't be available. I helped to pay for this after all. We all did. Why is this content so skewed to one play type? Its not even just this content. Go on LFG and try to find someone that wants to take on Skolas in PoE. Good luck with that. There is no reason Bungie could not have added matchmaking to older game modes. Prison of Elders and even the older raids would benefit hugely from matchmaking. Yeah you will probably run into idiots, but you can always leave and try again. It would still be quicker than trying to find five other people to keeping running Crotas End in a futile effort to finally get the Crux of Crota. I really LOVE Destiny. I enjoy PvE more than PvP, however I will gladly take part in crucible action from time to time. I understand lack of matchmaking in Trials or the Hard level raids, but something like Crimson Doubles? C'mon Bungie! You can't have a good reason for than. Don't you want as many people as possible playing Destiny events and spreading the word? Or do you find some kind of satisfaction in alienating the more casual players. Compare your internal numbers on what modes get more traffic. What percentage of Destiny players actively play ToO and complete Raids on a regular basis? Why are you so reluctant to try and improve that number? Matchmaking may not even be the answer for that question. But making it easier for people to meet up in game is never a bad thing. There is no reason I should have to go download and app, or logon to an external site in order to meet someone to complete an activity with. I don't claim to know it all, but there has to be a way, and when you release something like Crimson Doubles as a limited time event, the largest part of your playerbase should not be 100% excluded. I realize this is a rant. I'm not a bad player or a hater. I think its so cool that some of you folks have come together and formed these active friendships through clans or LFG sites. It just doesn't work out for everyone. I would go so far as to say that it doesn't work out for most people. I'll be able to get on and play a hand full of times maybe, but this is an even that I'll largely miss out on. I just have a hard time understanding why, and if this is the continued path Bungie keeps walking, is Destiny even worth my time anymore? Best of luck to you love birds out there!
