Hand cannons acurracy

I've been using hawkmoon for the past couple of days and all I've been seeing is that the faster you shoot the gun the more shoots you miss even though I'm aiming right at them. I've been a hand cannon fan for a very long time but I can't be competitive in the crusible because of that same reason it is not accurate. Wasn't enough to nerf the range why make it not be accurate? This isn't just a problem in pvp but in pve too please fix.

    This "bloom" effect on handcannon is just plain bullshit. My accuracy should be defined by how well I aim rather than RNG. This bloom effect makes handcannons unusable in crucible. If you cannot land shots quick enough so that an opponents shields don't regen, you can't kill them. Handcannons should only be limited by fire rate.

          • Hitting 3 headshots in a row is really difficult, even with the first curse which has the highest aim assist of all hc and even if you're aiming in the right direction. I've been playing with hc's for most of destiny, kept with them after 2.0 and kept with them after 2.1. Hawkmoon is the gun with which I have the most kills.Playing crucible has been a pain until a couple of days ago. I decided to try the new meta, the mida multi tool. The feeling of hitting headshots in a row...how I missed it! I hope to one day see HC's back to being useful agai :D

          • Handcannons need better aim assist, this is true. Handcannons are useless right now, pick up a different primary type in the meanwhile, or at least until they decide to un nerf handcannons back to their mediocre form instead of nerf hell where they are now....

          • They're trying to encourage people to be more purposeful with their shot placement while using handcannons rather than spamming them. I still use my Timur's lash, and TBH, I totally forgot about my first curse. But both of those guns can still be dominant if used properly. If you still use HC in PVP, they can still be very good, but odds are, you are going to have to work harder for your kills than you would have to while using a pulse rifle or scout rifle. Frankly, I'm sick of it.[/quote] I'm never one to complain about specific weapons, and my above-mentioned Timur's Lash will dominate TLW fools at midrange due to its ability to 2 shot, but it is pretty ridiculous that there is a gun that rewards people for not trying to aim. IMO they need to make the gun have a slightly bigger spread than the width of a guardian so that they actually have a chance to miss when spamming bullets everywhere.

              • Worst part is that we can assume there wont be any balance changes with tomorrow's patch. So things that are broken right now wont be addressed for at least another 3-4 months or until Destiny 2.

              • This is something called 'bloom.' Basically, imagine that after a shot, the accuracy cone of the weapon widens and then decreases back to its original volume. In that time when the accuracy cone is widened, it's less likely that you will hit your shot. This means you must pace your shots if you want to be accurate with hand cannons. Some hand cannons can shoot faster than their bloom resets - Hawkmoon is one of them. You have to use the weapon correctly for its best results, which means you have to strike the delicate balance between firing it quickly and giving it time for the bloom to not make you miss. Just for your information, bloom is not something many players are a fan of. It was very controversial when Bungie implemented it in Halo but it is actually a very good mechanic when done right.

                • I have been telling these forums that Hawkmoon's hit detection is off and people just keep saying no its "your connection" or "your missing". NO Hawkmoon is freaking messed up.

                  • Honestly, the Ace of Spades is the only hand cannon on this whole -blam!-ing game I enjoy using anymore. It feels like old school ones, like the Word of Crota, The Devil you Know, and of course the Fatebringer. I've tried to use others, like the Finalla's Peril, the Raid Hand Cannon and the Down and Doubt, but they're all shit. I can't get a -blam!-ing Imago Loop to drop, so I can't say about that one. But alas. Also, can I say that a lot of the TTK hand cannons look -blam!-ING STUPID??? A Warlock and a Gentleman.

                    • Hawkmoon definitely needs a fix. I love it and I've been forcing myself to use it for the last week but it just doesn't register shots. Close range, long range purely RNG. The damage was nerfed, the one shot lucky bullet too, range significantly destroyed, no need to piss on the accuracy that much.

                    • That's cuase of a nerf even if you aim at something in the head you only have a 8 out 10 chance of hitting it cuase they done it I've test trails before the patch last month it was only 6 out of ten I wish they would do that to sniper rifes.

                    • i honestly think that making the reticle travel around the screen from recoil is better than making were the bullet goes rng when i pull the trigger the bullet should land were the reticle was regardless of recoil

                      • Yea this is part of why Hand Cannons suck so much these days. TLW which many people claim is 'OP' is notorious for this. Especially at speed. Hawkmoon has always rewarded slower more accurate fire though... It's annoying but limits the range these weapons are effective at. It's a shame they can't make the same true for Scouts and Snipers.

                      • Hand cannons have had a bloom effect since 2.0. After shooting it, the cone of accuracy of where the bullet will fire blooms out, and waiting a bit will reset it. The issue standing in the way of buffing accuracy to pre-2.0 is The Last Word, cuz that would make it easier to get head shots, and TLW has a .25 ttk if u hit 2 head shots from the hip. It would already increase thorns ttk, but I do not have many issues with that gun.

                        • Hand cannons are still very much in the toilet. That is how bungie adjusts weapons. I have tried several. Work your ass off to make them work......Switch back to a scout rifle and it is all nice and easy again. Now there is balance for you.

                          • well the range stat is also tied in with accuracy, so I'm guessing when they reduced by 20 they really messed up the weapon's accuracy, despite buffing hand cannon ADS accuracy in the patch. It's such a shame that Hawkmoon got torn to shreds in 2.1

                          • For pretty much 1 full year, thorn did more damage than hawkmoon (guarantee 2 shot headshot kill) fired faster, and more stable than hawkmoon I always thought hawkmoon should dominate in range like having the eye of a hawk
