A Different Approach To Trading

While perusing these forums I found reference to Bungie's design goal of making a world with diversity that the player wanted to keep returning to that would never bore them. And the funny thing is, I came to realize after all these months what would help in that regard. Trading. I know what you must be thinking. "Bro, we've all been asking for that since beta. Get with it." Well, I know. I was there too, but please, keep reading. See, I propose a different, more limited trading. One that makes the best out of the Destiny economy, whilst retaining the design philosophy regarding weapons: Bungie. Please institute trading of currencies, materials and consumables. You see, Bungie has been trying to manage this economic idea using in-game NPCs such as The Speaker and Faction Representatives, but I feel like they're missing out on player involvement and community development by going this route. I enjoy running Prison of Elders, but currently, I have little impetus to do so. I rarely can get keys and I have little use for the etheric light except to now feed it for Petra Venj for weak rewards. With the ability to trade my etheric light, weapons parts, for keys, I could at least keep working on getting those exotic HoW weapons I never acquired and not be as limited in my pursuit of such. Imagine if SRL required a significant investment of glimmer to enter a championship tournament by a deadline, and you had no time to gather such an amount yourself? You could trade all those PoE keys to me for glimmer, or perhaps you know someone who hates Venus and PVP but really needs Spirit Bloom or Legendary Marks? You could trade the items you've gained playing the parts of Destiny you enjoy the most whilst not being forced to grind through the parts you don't enjoy. Sure, Destiny's weak point right now is making sure that all activities are equally rewarding in some way, such as PoE or the Court of Oryx, but I feel like expounding upon this idea could breathe life into this game as far as player interaction and economy management. Ideas? Criticisms? Concerns?

  • This would have been a great idea before they introduced silver. You could trade and negotiate in game stuff. Now that you could pay real money, it would just drive up the price of whatever is the most popular or most powerful weapons, armor and materials needed to upgrade them. Even high light stuff would sell in order to infuse the purchased weapons and armor. Next thing you know a red death is costing $100 irl and people are investing their full 24,000 glimmer each week in the hope of a god roll hand cannon

    • We need some bad parts to this idea. 1. You can just get whatever you want withought grinding 2. I know grinding is the worse but is it better not earning yourself then actually just getting it from someone else 3. What is the point of grinding if you can just trade. 4. I just needed some cons to this kind of situation so please dont talk trash I just added this for cons :)
