Black Spindle: not worth the exotic slot
Bungie: buff Black Spindle, or admit it's a disappointment.
I acquired Black Spindle today, one of the few exotic weapons players actually have to earn.
I worked out that the vendor sniper and shotgun I already had is a better gun! So I will rarely use Black Spindle. Anyone can get vendor weapons served on a plate every day that are much better in PvP and better in almost all PvE scenarios, without even using up the exotic slot! At best, against certain raid bosses, BS can deliver up to about 9% more DPS -- it's not worth using an exotic slot for that.
I also found that Bungie nerfed the attack down to 290! They also nerfed the White Nail perk.
Conclusion: Black Spindle is a legendary weapon that wastes an exotic slot. It's not worth wasting your time doing the mission (I did it at 292 light). Is this what Bungie wanted?
RECOMMENDATION: Increase reload speed and rate of fire and stability to make this worth equipping. Or make it legendary.
I miss my Icebreaker. FFS.

If you can get a 1000-Yard Stare with Triple Tap and Casket Mag, then you can do some damage and use another exotic. CM would bring the mag size up to 5 and if you activate TT twice, you'd get 2 free shots for a 7 round magazine. Probably the best legendary alternative to the Spindle.

1 Replycompletely agree that its barely an exotic, if at all, though here: if you roll 1000-yard Stare with Mulligan and Triple Tap, it far outweighs Black Spindle, as the difference is absolutely minimal and does NOT justify an exotic slot *AT ALL*. That being said, if pure DPS is what you're after - as in that you have limited time to shoot - Black Spindle it is, no question. unless you got a reload perk on your 1000-yard Stare and sniper loader perk on your gloves, you're not gonna beat that dps even with triple tap. end of. ^^ so - very, VERY situational and useful for only a tiny little percentage of the game. Which is a complete and utter shame.

It's great because they thought black hammer was too good to be legendary (right?) So they Nerf white nail so it takes from your reserves And then make it an exotic and throw the nerfed white nail perk on it and call it the black spindle ??? Why not leave the perk as it was and make it exotic? I'm sure having unlimited ammo on non moving bosses would make it feel worth it

10 RepliesYou are correct regarding the dps. Unfortunately you speak a foreign language for most destiny players who can't read the damage on the screen. In fact, 1000YS and Sleeper stimulant for instance will generate roughly 30% to 40% more damage than a Black Spindle and machine gun or rocket launcher combination. But we're talking about destiny mate, where people think they have skills because they press x and r2 lol This said, the black spindle is actually the only weapon that has realistic features typical of an American sniper, especially the sound and recoil effect. For these reason it is a beautiful weapon. But you're right damage wise, especially when you see that even with BS at 320 some players can't deal more than 300k on the war priest or 2mln on golgoroth, and I'm not even mentioning all these losers who can't even shoot an ogre and a knight. A joke.

320 black spindall leaves 5% health from body shot,received 4 so far after deleting a character just to redo the mission.got it at first release Thibk it's amusing how people struggle to get it now after hard mode was released-get good-other than that being said I disagree it's epic doing that much damage in PvP worth the exotic slot

It's ok, falls short of the pre nerf Black Hammer. Reload speed is the one thing they won't increase, it's supposed to be a penalty if you miss one precise hit to trigger the automatic refill. Look at all the raid weapons with cocoon perk, even worse reload speed. One question you must ask yourself, what other exotic would you use instead on the warpriest or golgoroth? No time to explain? Haven't compared the DPS on the other legendary snipers and NTTE …

You want to make it an all around good weapon. That's not what it is. It's to be used for massive boss damage, and that's about it. It is incredibly useful in Golgoroth and Warpriest.
