I like random loot. First ghally was my first POE 28 run. It was a day of days.
But they nerfed the ghally... They've nerfed a lot of things for the sake of balance and LFG elitists.
Here's what I believe is the truth. Regardless of your view of MMOs and their typical practices (if you even define Destiny as an MMO), I for one simply do not like the practice of leaving gear behind to avoid power creep and I don't care about balance in PVE (when things are OP) as long as the experience is fun.
I think there is one simple factor that would keep us all coming back for DLC after DLC: FUN
Let me express what I think was fun and what could be fun again:
Perks
The new perks are unimaginative, lazy, and boring. More stability, range, faster reload (although I do love that), impact, adding bonus super, grenade, melee... These are all incredibly mundane. Gone are the days of creating new perks like no backpack, tracking rounds, original white nail (on a sniper), firefly, or whatever. New gear lacks the magic year 1 gear had.
This extends to armor as well. The stag is an example of yet another exotic whose strongest perk has to do with super.
We live in an age where ghosts are reviving us from death during a mission, why can't we think of more creative ideas?! I've made several posts listing ideas (dumb or not) for new perks.
I had no problem grinding for certain guns or amor in vanilla because I knew they would be... Yep... FUN.
Old Raids
Uh... VOG is amazing. CE was ok, but that is a legitimate amount of content to leave to nostalgia only. Add taken, make the enemies 40, I don't care. Make them relevant by doing what you need to in order for year 2 loot to drop.
Hot Buttons
Seeing my buddies do the Thriller when we are fighting Warpriest... Pretty cool.
Pressing D-Pad Up to switch my shotty to a sniper?! Much muuuuuuch cooler.
Obviously synths would be outstanding here as well.
Ok, my point is getting tired. Just up the fun factor, give us AMAZING and CRAZY perks! Make the old relevant! Don't make me hide in a map to switch my guns!
Grind on guardians!

This is one thing i really don't understand: why take all the fun out of the game? I miss my guns that wrecked. Since HoW the guns are repetitive and boring. How can this be what you want out of a game? I want to see an interviewer ask these questions and get some responses. Bet luke smith will still look like an asshat.

Bump for fun!

Bump the Fun

I agree

Edited by M pinball3: 11/24/2015 11:43:43 PMEvery time they nerf a weapon (class) or fix a cheese in a raid all I hear from them is: "Stop. You're having fun incorrectly and we don't like it"

i want my fun back PLEASE

I agree this game is boring if Destiny ever wants to buff the one back into this game start by letting us play our way. Bring back the Ghorn, icebreaker, Vex, & our old raid gear to mean something. Also set the exotics back to there originally stats before 2.0 stop nerfing everything.

Fun was OP; nerf well-deserved.
-
The fun got nerfed... and for very good reasons. HOW gave us too many options for achieving the highest level. For players who prefer PvE the prison of elders was how they could get the etheric light and higher level gear. Like a challenging PvP experience? Trials of Osiris was for you. If trials was too rich for your blood (or you just didn't know enough other players who were interested in the most difficult PvP in the game) then iron banner offered an opportunity to ascend your gear and purchase some cool looking armor. Players chose to play the game the way they wanted to and were having fun doing it. That fun was way too op. It had to be nerfed.

What fun is there to buff?
-
Hahahaha I love the way you put it. The fun totally needs a buff.

Instructions unclear. Fun nerfed.

Another thing that would bring back the fun would be decoupling the light level system from the RNG by allowing us to infuse motes of light directly into weapons/armor to increase light level. Motes are earned doing almost anything, including post-40 level ups so they could definitely work out a system to exploit this to the gamers advantage. It would not end the grind, but it would make it so that each hour/day/week you do not get that 320 breast plate was not such a waste of time. It would also let gamers pursue game modes they prefer, versus being funneled into certain activities to obtain specific quality gear or specific items. We should get rewarded for pursuing our own fun, not pursuing activities that some Dev in a cubicle in Activision's basement wants us to do. Failing to ensure your gamers/customers/supporters are having fun is a failure that goes far beyond simple incompetence. It is an indicator of poor management.

Seriously, what is even happening in the game?
-
There are only two things I can think of that actually deserve to be nerfed: 1) nerfs and 2) the grind. The resulting immense amount of fun would be unmeasurable!!!

Amazing thread, more fun reading this then playing... lol

Edited by GreenScreener: 11/9/2015 6:45:24 AMSo much this...fun is gone The lost festival was dull because of broken rng, they can't even get 'fun' right

Bump. Seriously Bungie - how hard is it to do this? Did you learn nothing from Blizzard telling you to 'make sure people leave your game happy'? https://www.change.org/p/bungie-activision-bungie-activision-guardians-are-you-with-me-bungie-activision-enough-is-enough
