Iron Banner drop rate.
I'm posting this here as I feel it is currently bugged or at least not working as intended.

I know many people who are rank 5 and I personally am rank 3. I personally have yet to see one drop for either myself or anyone in game. My concern is that this was meant to be the primary source for rewards but on the path to getting to rank 5 only getting an average 1 or 2 pieces of gear and sometimes a duplicate it seems easier to get the rewards from Lord Saladin instead.
I'm just here to voice my concern that something seems wrong with the drop rate in Iron Banner at the moment when it was put forward that it was meant to yield a higher rate of drops than previous Iron Banners. With the drop rate at the moment and the drops only being what the vendor is selling himself I know many people who are just waiting until Sunday to do a few bounties and get rank 5 easily to just go and purchase the gear as it seems more logical and easier and putting their time elsewhere trials/strikes/raids/etc rather try play through endless amounts of Iron Banner games hoping for a drop.
[b]Edit:[/b] Thanks for the responses, from what I can see its pretty clear that we have either all been mislead or have misinterpreted the information around the current loot dropping in Iron Banner or.. The loot drop rate is not working as intended and not dropping at the rate it should. Either way with the end near for this Iron Banner its sad to see how disappointing this one was and I can only hope they've at least listened to the community for future Iron Banners to make them somewhat more enjoyable and rewarding to play.

The comment about the pool expanding as you climb the ranks still refers to the loot Lord Saladin is selling and not additional loot i'm to believe, unless they have changed this for future events. In saying this bungie stating additional pieces of gear will be available means they will be expanding Lord Saladin's inventory but I still doubt you'll be able to acquire any of the gear he's not selling in the end of match rewards.

OP says what needs to be said essentially but I felt I need to mention my experience this week. This is probably the most grinding I did for any event in Destiny. I hit rank 5 with my first character on... Thurs, or Fri. Hit rank 5 w/ the second a day later I believe (catch-up buffs worked great). The rest of the weekend and today, trying to get the armor piece with the rolls I want. I figured it would be a while but I was extremely disappointed how bad the drop rate was. For my first character, it may not seem bad on paper (3 class items, 2 pulse rifles, 1 sidearm, and two armor pieces) but it was a TON of matches. I would estimate AFTER rank 5, I probably put in well over 20 hrs for my first character. My second character, I just ran out of time, probably only got another 6 hrs after rank 5 on him... and as for my second character, I got an armor piece... maybe a sidearm, that's it. :( I'm not sure if this is just frustration speaking here but I feel the previous HoW Iron Banner was the same if not better drop rate. I know for a fact I didn't put in the same time as I did this time, but I still got multiple weapons each Banner. With all this said, I'm not too sure "drop rates have been increased" and said drops will be "primary source..." means what Bungie thinks it means. The abysmal drop rate has been a consistent concern across forums and game reviewers I've read. Obviously Bungie knows the issue here but simply responding in the 10/15 weekly update with a non-answer to the poor drop rate seems like a dodge to me. There was no commentary on the drop rate there... No, "we're aware of this and are looking into it". Just basically a perry to say that the pool opens at rank 2 and if you don't get what we want we can buy it from Saladin... um okay, no new information there. Granted, we aren't entitled to any 'perks' Bungie can give in how their game behaves but making these claims and then experiencing results (shared by more than just me), that don't fit the claim is frustrating at best and mis-leading at worst. It's really unfortunate where you have to work to a point where you no longer enjoy Iron Banner to earn the rewards. I know, if it becomes unenjoyable, I can just stop, I get it. But I understand the RNG system and I'm willing to go with it... within reason. Again, I knew it was going to be some work, and I was determined, but I really didn't expect this. I figured I'd be earning armor/class items every 5-7 matches... maybe even 7-10. Oops, jokes on me I guess. Anyway, IB only lasts a week, and most of us have lives outside of Destiny, I would hope next time the drop rate could be re-evaluated... or reforging armor (Iron Banner & Trials of Osiris gear - using the glass needles, I don't care) would be a wonderful solution. :] A bit off-topic but a few observations about Iron Banner this week: No lag issues for me, but there were a few ShadowShot spammers, that got old quickly. With the long-term Crucible play, I really did sense the reduced range in hand cannons though. I'm on XBone so I had to bring the Hawkmoon into this. It was sad to see bullets sailing-over-target on a few very medium-range shots (reticle firmly placed on opponents head). I understand the Thorn/TLW nerf. And as a regular Last Word user, it had to change. But that general change to Hand Cannons... not so sure they really needed it. My .02. Edit: I see the ship's been mentioned as well - I did get a ship too... but that didn't make me feel any better. :)

My characters are rank 3, 4, and nearly 5. I've gotten 3 drops. At least luckily is been what i wanted thus far. Bond, cloak and boots. I wanted that pulse rifle, but I just don't have the time. I believe it when they say that they listen and try to make things better. It just feels like a lie sometimes, when they keep making the same mistakes. Not to sound rude, I know they aren't stupid or anything, so why does this keep happening. I give nearly all my free time to this game, and get next to nothing for all the effort. -sigh- at least the lag was better. Keep trying Bungie.

I'm rank 5 and have had no Iron Banner legendaries drop and have only seen one drop for another guardian . I hope that the drops are bugged and this is not the way Bungie planned it. Sadly it seems like Bungie are going back to the bad old days when they told us nothing at all

5 RepliesI hit rank 5 on the 16th, been playing many many matches and the only drops i've had have been: bond x2 sidearm pulse rifle While that may seem good.. when you consider that I've been off work sick so was able to pretty much be on it all day long each day, game after game over 5 days so far.. that's lame as hell. The droprate is terrible.. I've 'rarely' seen other players get legendaries either. Bungie said in the News article: Destiny Update - 10/13/2015 1 - Game completion rewards have been reworked to be a more valid source for Iron Banner rewards 2 - End-of-match rewards now include both weapons and armor (including items available on Lord Saladin) 1 implies that we should reliably be able to get rewards, the facts it's Iron Banner would imply it's specific rewards, hence why i would assume it's Legendary rewards. 4 drops in 5 full days of play is quite frankly proof statement 1 is false. 2 implies that we would be able to have the chance to get 'all' the armour and weapons as a means of drops. This is due to the bracketed sentence. It states it would 'include' the sold items, it doesn't say it would 'only' drop the sold items. So this too is false. Simply put, the information we were provided with was very [b]flawed and misleading[/b] and has led to many of us wasting our time for items that simply will not drop for 'anyone'. To say i'm feeling cheated is an understatement. I don't mind grinding for gear.. but this is overkill, and ultimately for nothing as nothing is even dropping for other people. I like the idea of Iron Banner.. however the improvements i would make are: 1. Make 'the full armour set' available from Saladin so we can 'choose' what to buy. (Due to the marks we'd have to be selective anyway). 2. Make it attainable through drops. The playtime to drop ratio would absolutely have to improve! Remember.. the event is only on for 1 week Bungie, and there is only so much time in the day people can game, we have lives and jobs outside of the game.. Due to imposing such a limited time to play, if you are going to offer 'drops' then make the droprates more reasonable for the limited amount of time people have to play those matches. At present, Iron Banner reward system is unrealistic for gamers to be rewarded adequately for the time they invest. That is why i believe this Iron Banner has been terrible. (Coming from someone who generally enjoys it). I doubt i will bother next time around unless proper changes are made. It's just not worth the time i've spent on it.

I'm almost rank 5 and I have had no gear drop. I went and played one match of mayhem rumble yesterday and got a year 2 spare change its sad when I get more loot from one game then a week of playing IB

(class item for warlock) I'm at 297 and I have only seen one pice of gear drop for ANYONE with a high number. All the rest is shitty blues in the 260s and 270s Worthless crap.

In the, oh I don't know, maybe 15 hours I've played (stopped playing yesterday as I've got all I want), I have received two hunter cloaks, one a 296 and one a 298, and the sidearm. I literally got all I want and I'm about halfway through rank 3. Pulse rifle would have been nice but I use my primary for exotics mostly. The drops are fine but you need to win matches. Consistently. My team was winning 7 matches in a row then losing the odd one, our highest win streak was 14. We all got a few drops each.

Pretty sure it is bugged as when I was only level 1 in IB on my Titan and warlock I was given both bond and mark when you're not supposed to get them till rank 2 of IB so ya I lm pretty sure it's not right. Decided just to buy the cloak for my hunter because it rocks discipline and intellect.

Got two class items and boots for my Hunter who is rank 5, then switched to warlock and first match, the pulse rifle drops. I guess once you hit rank 5 or 4 you get drops on all characters.

I just hit Rank 5. I got my first reward the next match. It was the Titan mark I'd already bought, at 282 instead of 280. I took the 3-mark refund for discarding it. Every other single thing has been a rare item. I'm going off to grind Vanguard strikes.

1 ReplySo the way it works is the higher your IB rank, the more of the loot table you have access to. At rank 4, you have everything he's selling on the drop table. I had a sidearm, bond, and pulse rifle drop while I was getting to rank 5 on my warlock.
